When the Eaton Fires hit Altadena + Pasadena, our students didn’t just capture damage.
They preserved hope.
They preserved resilience.
They preserved history.
Through GRX Immersive Labs, we ran the Immersive Storytelling Academy in collaboration with
the progressive educational team Equation to Success + Pasadena Unified School District
With support from
AGOG + Arizona State University.
Students + XR Ambassadors used:
360 cameras
Gaussian Splatting
Spatial capture tools
To:
• Reconstruct fire-affected environments in 3D
• Rebuild artifacts from the fires
• Turn lived experiences into immersive XR narratives
This project also served as hands-on applied training for our XR Ambassadors — building real workforce-aligned immersive production skills.
The academy was featured live on Good Day LA on FOX 11 Los Angeles.

As we celebrate and reflect on the brilliance, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders past and present, we are reminded of something powerful: when we come together with purpose, we create impact and move change forward. ✨

In education, this means advocating for meaningful change within the system. Through our work and service, we shift mindsets and transform learning experiences for Black students who often look like us and our team.
