Introducing the EQT SMD (Sauce Management Device) for VW/Audi MQBe platforms: MK8 Golf R / GTI and 8Y Audi S3. After more than a year of intensive development, real-world testing, and refinement, we’re proud to unveil a new option for MQBe tuning.
The EQT SMD plugs directly into your vehicle’s OBD-II port and connects to the EQT SMD App wirelessly on iOS/Android or via USB on Windows. Installing, updating, and modifying your tunes has never been easier. Swap calibrations, choose calibration options and features, view gauges, data log, and submit logs for review right from your phone.
The SMD supports the same popular Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes our customers have enjoyed on MK8/8Y platforms. Staged tunes will be offered as Map Packs, giving you access to all variants within that stage, including 91, 93, E85, Low Torque, High Torque, and more. Burble options can also be selected any time you flash. Stage 2 purchases or upgrades will include access to both Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes, so there’s no more guessing which fuel type to choose.
The biggest advancements come with custom tuning and expanded features. Our initial release includes MPI support and a customized boost control system, allowing us to fully support upgraded turbos like the Vortex XL and full E85. We’re also working on Flex Fuel, Custom Launch Control, Custom Traction Control, No Lift Shifting, MK8 TCU tuning, and more. Many of these features will begin with custom tuning and eventually make their way into staged tune options.
For current Cobb AccessPort customers, nothing changes. Our focus for the SMD is exclusively for the MK8/8Y platform, and any other platform support is years out at best. We continue to value our long-standing relationship with Cobb and we will continue to support and refine our Cobb based offerings for MK8/8Y as well as all other platforms we have supported for years with Cobb’s help.
