If you just matched and intern year is around the corner, here are 3 pieces of advice I wish someone emphasized more:
1️⃣ Give yourself grace.
You’re stepping into a completely new level of responsibility, and nobody expects perfection on day one. Medicine is a lifelong learning process.
2️⃣ Use the tools available to you.
One of the best things you can do early on is lean on trusted resources. For me, Epocrates became one of my go to tools during training. Whether I needed to quickly check dosing, review interactions, or confirm side effects, it helped me make decisions faster and with more confidence in real time. Having that kind of support in your pocket makes a huge difference during busy rotations.
3️⃣ Find your people.
Your co interns, seniors, mentors, friends, family these are the people who help carry you through the tough days and celebrate the wins with you. Don’t try to do it all alone.
Intern year can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to know everything on day one you just need to stay teachable, stay humble, and keep showing up.

Patient safety awareness week just wrapped up, but for epocrates, supporting safer care is a responsibility that never pauses.
Patient safety is in the choices you make, moment to moment. Every decision plays a role. With support designed for real-clinical workflows, epocrates helps you navigate those moments, by being an extended part of your care team.

What people see is only a small part of what it means to be a doctor.
What isn’t visible are the hours of preparation, the constant decision-making, and the responsibility that doesn’t end when the visit does.
Today, we recognize all of it.
Thank you for the care you provide, the trust you build, and the commitment you bring to every patient.
We’re grateful to support the work you do, every day. Happy Doctors’ Day.
