I’m so excited to announce my newest photography book — Journey of the Red Thread.
This project is deeply personal. I’ve always believed that immersing yourself in another culture isn’t just about seeing new things—it’s about feeling differently, understanding differently, and connecting beyond words.
Journey of the Red Thread is layered: two stories told side by side in English and Chinese. They aren’t translations of each other. The English captures the surface moments; the Chinese holds the closer, more personal conversations—kept protected within the culture that shared them with me. You have to speak both languages to understand the full story, just as in life, some meanings live between what is said and what is simply felt.
During my time in China, I was lucky to be welcomed into Yoon’s family, becoming part of a world so different from my own. Despite the language barrier, we built a connection through small moments of trust and kindness. Every photograph, every scattered page, mirrors the wonder, disorientation, and quiet belonging I found there.
This isn’t just a street photography book—it’s a story of memory, closeness, and the invisible threads that tie us all together.
Each FOUNDRY location will be receiving a copy of the book for members to enjoy. I would love for you to spend time with it, and if you do, I would be so grateful to hear what you think.
