✨ Generator Awards Recap ✨ This semester’s Generator Awards celebrated the incredible work of our EPICS teams! 🚀 We started with a project showcase, where teams presented the solutions they’ve been working on all semester, followed by recognizing outstanding teams and individuals who went above and beyond to make an impact. From there, we honored outstanding teams and individuals who went above and beyond in delivering meaningful impact. We also heard from inspiring student speakers, Layan Ali and James Beaumont, who reflected on their EPICS journey and the lasting difference it’s made—both in their lives and in the communities they serve. Huge congratulations to all of our winners and to every team that made this semester unforgettable! 💡👏

🚀 Team Spotlight: NASA Psyche Autonomous Rover Project Team 1 This EPICS team at ASU is pushing the boundaries of space exploration by designing an autonomous rover for asteroid 16 Psyche—where low gravity, metallic terrain, and communication delays make navigation a whole new challenge. They’ve developed P.A.R., a sensor testing platform equipped with LiDAR, ultrasonic, and camera-based detection to understand complex terrain. Alongside this, the team engineered a Cubli-style reaction wheel system to maintain balance and control in low-gravity environments. The goal? A fully autonomous rover that integrates advanced sensing with innovative mobility—built to explore where traditional rovers can’t. 🌌🔧

In March, the Change the World Showcase celebrated ASU students making a difference through innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative solutions. Our EPICS team, ECMO Bridge, took 2nd place at the showcase, earning $3,500 to scale their project. ECMO Bridge is a web-based platform that connects physicians to available ECMO machines in real time—reducing delays, improving communication, and delivering life-saving care. EPICS Team Lead Huzaifah Sheikh calls the journey exhilarating. After pitching at four competitions, the team is proud of the traction they’ve gained and the real-world impact of their engineering work. “Our mission drives us: saving lives across Arizona. This is just the beginning as we continue to build and scale ECMO Bridge.” Congratulations to the ECMO Bridge Team!

Our next senior spotlight is EPICS student Dani Floyde, a Mechanical Engineering major who joined EPICS in Fall 2023 and contributed to the Hydration Station team. Through EPICS, Dani built strong skills in teamwork, project management, and technical documentation, while gaining confidence working in a real-world engineering environment. She also developed a new perspective on her major—seeing how engineering goes beyond theory to create meaningful impact for communities. One of her most memorable EPICS moments? Traveling to Las Vegas for the IEEE Rising Stars Conference, where her team showcased their project and won 1st place in the large group category. After graduation, Dani plans to move to Renton, Washington to begin her career as a Liaison Engineer at Boeing. Advice to her freshman-year self: “Join clubs earlier and take advantage of everything ASU has to offer from the start.” 📚 Favorite study spot: Any empty classroom in ECG

Global EPICS spent Spring Break with EPICS students in Barcelona, Spain, leading its Global Intensive Experience (GIE)—a journey defined by innovation, culture, and impact 🇪🇸✨ Global Intensive Experience in Barcelona is a perfect example of what happens when education goes beyond the classroom. Student teams collaborated with community partners to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges while strengthening their global perspective within engineering. In just one week, students immersed themselves in a new culture and engaged in meaningful, hands-on work—from exploring iconic landmarks like Montjuïc Castle and La Sagrada Familia to experiencing flamenco, a traditional Spanish dance, alongside guest lectures and industry visits. Support from @absoluteinternship helped enhance the experience by providing valuable global and professional insights. A week that showcased the power of engineering to create meaningful impact across borders 💡 #EPICSAbroad #StudyAbroad #InnovationInAction #ASU
