Magnie is a revival of one of my older typefaces.
It started years ago, but the turning point came when my friend Surya Fikri @kuyasunda used it for a tribute band logotype inspired by The Strokes. That made me realize this font had a strong retro spirit. Later, I found out that The Strokes logo was inspired by the Magna cigarette logotype, and that became the reason behind the new name: Magnie.
Originally inspired by Japanese power tool branding, this font has now grown into a much more versatile system with around 1,900 alternate glyphs. It works beautifully for band logos, amplifier branding, car emblems, and other bold vintage-inspired designs.
To complete it, I also added a sans pairing with 6 static families + variable for more flexibility in branding and layout work.
