Baby kittens are flooding in, and we want to remind y'all not to kitnap! 🙅♀️
We know it’s hard to walk away when you find tiny kittens, but if they look plump and healthy, then mom is nearby and caring for them. Their best chance at survival is with her!
Mama cats will often leave for a bit to find food, so just because you don’t see her right away doesn’t mean the kittens are abandoned. In fact, kittens under 8 weeks old are at higher risk when they’re separated from their mom too soon.
If the kittens are sick, injured, cold, or in immediate danger, that’s when to step in. Call 311 or bring them to our main shelter 📍5001 Fred Wilson (open daily 11am–6pm).
If they seem okay but you’re unsure, you can gently move them to a safer nearby spot, place a small ring of flour around them, and check back in 4–6 hours. If you see paw prints, you’ve got a hardworking mama still on duty. 🐱
For kittens 8 weeks and older (and even adult cats), you can schedule an appointment through our Community Cat Program to have them spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their neighborhood 🔗 ElPasoAnimalServices.org/community-cats/

We’ve shared Houdini before. He was adopted… and then returned, through no fault of his own. We're hoping that this time, his forever family will see him!

He might be better dressed than all of us, and on top of that, he’s just a really easy, really sweet dog.🥰
He’s about 4 years old, and he’s got that calm, hang-out-with-you-all-day kind of energy. He’s already potty trained, knows sit, and yes… he takes treats very seriously.🍗
Houdini does well around other dogs, too. He’s gentle and affectionate, just appreciates having his meals to himself. (Don't we all?)

We’re incredibly thankful to @operationkindness for partnering with us to bring these spay and neuter services to our community. Through state funding from the Texas Department of State Health Services’ spay/neuter program dedicated to helping high-need areas across Texas, pets in our community were able to receive lifesaving surgeries for their families. 🫶
Operation Kindness Humane Society is also investing in our community by covering travel and staffing costs for their veterinary team. 😻
Access to services like these helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces shelter overpopulation, and keeps pets healthier and safer for years to come. 💗

Chika is a completely different dog beyond her shelter kennel.😢
On her doggy day out, we saw a happy, curious, confident dog we’ve never seen before. We learned that she loves being outside, walks on leash like a pro, and even knows sit!
She might need a little time to trust, but once she does, she gives you her whole heart. Chika has lived with other dogs and wouldn’t mind a fur sibling or two

Cookie has spent her whole life in the shelter system. Now she’s a year old, and she still doesn’t have a place to call home.💔🥲
The thing is… Cookie is a really good dog.
She’s potty trained, crate trained, doesn’t tear things up, and just knows how to exist in a home. She does great with other dogs, is good with kids, and is always happy to be part of whatever you’re doing.

🐶 DOGGY DAY OUT is a volunteer opportunity to take a shelter pup out for the day and give them a MUCH NEEDED break from the stresses of shelter life. You can take your pup to dog friendly stores, restaurants, parks, hiking, or even just home to relax & play in the yard.
📄 Volunteers must be 18 years old, and you must also read & follow the rules in the Doggy Day Out Field Trip Guide.
🚙 Only one dog per vehicle. If you sign up with a friend and are each taking a dog, then you must each come in separate vehicles.
🛁 Special treat for this Saturday, all Doggy Day Out pups are invited to attend the @barkmeownbeyond Pet Market to get a free bath! (9:30am-12pm)
