I went diving with tiger sharks in the Maldives...on my first ever dive. And honestly, I was half expecting JAWS...
But underwater, the story felt very different.
Sharks have existed for over 400 million years - long before dinosaurs - yet we often see them through a lens of fear.
The reality is - only 5 to 10 people die from shark attacks each year. Human though, kill an estimated 100 million sharks annually.

I came to the Maldives terrified of sharks. Blame Jaws. And headlines of shark attacks.
Then I jumped into the water with tiger sharks, and something doesn't add up.
They weren't hunting us. In fact, they seemed...curious. Calm even.
That's when my dive instructor told me about Ema, his favourite shark.
Which raises a bigger question. Are sharks misunderstood?
