Kelp Forest 🌊 This project is an immersive installation exploring ancestral storytelling, rest, and creative expression through textile, sound, and projection. Hand-sewn tapestry curtains with patchwork seaweed forms create a forest visitors can walk through, rest in, and listen within. The space will include sound baths, workshops, and digital lessons designed to make creative practice accessible without surveillance, allowing the installation to remain a place for reflection and rejuvenation. Lessons from the workshops will be shared online, along with a podcast on self-actualization, so people at home can follow along and engage with the ideas beyond the physical space. The Kelp Forest opens June 26th at 7 PM 🌊🫧 This project has lived in my mind, sketchbooks, voice memos, recordings, dreams, and late nights for a long time. After years of building, experimenting, making music, and worldbuilding, I’m so excited to finally share The Kelp Forest with you all. Through sound, sculpture, projection, dye, textiles, storytelling, and installation, this exhibition explores Black ecological memory, oceanic spirituality, transformation, softness, survival, and the emotional relationship between technology and organic life. 📍 4261 Roosevelt Way NE 🪸 Jack Straw New Media Gallery 📅 June 26th – September 4th ⏰ Opening Reception at 7 PM About the Artist: KTNA is a Seattle-based multidisciplinary artist, designer, musician, and educator whose work bridges sound, installation, industrial design, natural and synthetic dye, and speculative storytelling. Through immersive environments and sonic worldbuilding, their practice explores Black and Indigenous futurism, environmental justice, ancestral memory, and collective imagination. This exhibition is also connected to an upcoming album release and expanding bodies of work and workshops through Entangled Oceans. Mother’s Day Ikebana Class field trip! In honor of the 100 year anniversary of the Sogetsu ikebana school founding, our class took a field trip to the bloedel reserve on bainbridge island. We each created an arrangement to be on display in the guesthouse and then spent the rest of day exploring the gardens design by Fujitaro Kubota in 1956. Our arrangements were on display for Mother’s Day weekend, for an audience of abt 1000 guests! I love learning! I love flowers! Can’t wait to do this for the rest of my life 😛 #ikebana #sogetsu #florist #mothersday
