ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: ENTANGLED MIND
Entangled Mind is the alias of Marissa Barbato, a Boston-based producer and lifelong musician. Balancing organic instrumentation with skillful electronic production, they traverse effortlessly through a multitude of genres from psybass to downtempo to world fusion, using sound to inspire connection.
With intuitive phrasing, complex layering, and thoughtful arrangements, they weave together their own recordings and carefully crafted sounds into meaningful commands of tension and release. Had the best time in NY this past weekend! Massively successful show in Brooklyn at The Chocolate Factory with Supersillyus & friends - a delectable curation, was such a pleasure to be a part of this memorable night ☺️🍫
Pairing up with @johnathansinger for the first time was a lot of fun, loved how his visual style matched with my music, definitely hope to collaborate on another set soon!
Other highlights of the weekend included spending time with friends, visiting the MoMA, a delicious Colombian brunch at Palenque, and a sunny yoga session on the rooftop of a flower shop 🌸☀️

Whether it’s carefully curated melodies layered over pulsing basslines, or organic jams reshaped into immersive electronic journeys, Entangled Mind reflects the conversation between instinct, influence, and presence.
The Rust had an opportunity to speak with them ahead of their upcoming performance alongside the @supersillyus Lifeband and friends at Brooklyn’s @chocolatefactoryvibes . We sat down to talk about creative evolution, physics, the artistic struggle and how intuition plays a role in shaping a live set.

Immensely stoked to be pairing with @johnathansinger on visuals, I’ve been a fan of his work for years and I think our styles are going to mesh wonderfully, especially with the wall to wall floor to ceiling projection mapping, this is going to be a fully immersive experience 😛

@entangled_mind really is one of the artists I’ve been more excited about over the last few years. a welcome whirlwind of sonic ideas and explorations in this current Wild West neo-psychedelic cultural landscape. Entangled Mind is one of those rare producers in this scene that can really dive deep and flex hyper modern sound design but yet somehow without compromising or sacrificing in any musicality or emotional transmission. The work is dense, explosive and surgically thoughtful. I’m very much about it.
If you come to the dang chocolate factory next week you can wrap your earballs around what the heck I’ve been rambling about
