We’re so happy to present Ensemble Odyssee’s latest album as our album of the month, which focuses on reimagining the music of J.S. Bach. The ensemble present four Bach concertos in new arrangements, highlighting different solo instruments and framing this repertoire as it’s not been heard before. Their first release for Challenge Classics, Original & Counterfeit is a fitting demonstration of the ensemble’s virtuosity as arrangers and performers ✨

Taken from the upcoming album ‘Original & Counterfeit - Concertos after BWV 1052, 1053, 1056 & 1057’ to be released on August 15th 2025.
BWV 1056 exists in both F minor and G minor, and the G minor version fits the oboe almost perfectly. With only minimal adjustments, its melody takes on a singing quality that blends beautifully with the oboe’s voice – so natural, it feels as if it were written for the instrument itself. Here, Georg Fritz brings this line to life on oboe, joined by the rich sound of the tutti ensemble. Available now on all streaming platforms – link in bio.
