Two artists. Two materials. One visionary language of form. ✨ When German steel sculptor @engineeringartist and Austrian glass artist @robert.comploj first came together, they discovered a shared fascination: the dialogue between strength and fragility, mass and transparency, steel and light. What began as artistic curiosity evolved into the groundbreaking Glass Cultivator series — a sculptural collaboration where industrial steel structures merge seamlessly with expressive handcrafted glass. Inspired by Schönauer’s iconic “Cultivator” sculptures — originally conceived as monumental stainless-steel forms connecting space and surface — Comploj introduced a completely new dimension through luminous glass elements. Together, they created works balancing architecture, emotion, precision, and organic movement. Their collaborative works and presentations have already gained international attention through exhibitions, collectors, and art fairs connected to cities including Vienna, Düsseldorf, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai, Hamburg, New York, São Paulo, Brussels, and Basel. Criadas por Thomas Schönauer, essas obras são produzidas em vidro soprado em parceria com o mestre Robert Comploj, especialista no tradicional ofício do vidro veneziano. O resultado é uma fusão entre arte contemporânea e técnica artesanal, onde cada escultura carrega identidade própria e alto valor artístico.

Die Kunstinitiative Wurzeln und Flügel e.V. präsentiert Thomas Schönauers Skulptur „Cultivator - The Dancer“ auf dem Wendersplatz, direkt am Eingang der Landesgartenschau Neuss. Ab dem 16. April ist die Landesgartenschau 2026 in Neuss eröffnet und wartet für 6 Monate, bis zum 11. Oktober, mit einem breiten und vielfältigen Programm auf. Der Wendersplatz ist für die Landesgartenschau zentraler Begegnungsort, Entree und Eyecatcher. Von der Innenstadt Neuss aus, bezeichnet er den Weg zum Gelände, der schon von Weitem durch das nahe gelegene Riesenrad sichtbar ist. Wir freuen uns, auf diesem Platz ein Kunstwerk zu präsentieren, das mit seiner Höhe von 2,30m auch weit sichtbar über den Platz tanzt und zum Kunst- und Kulturangebot der Landesgartenschau beiträgt. Auf dem Geländeplan der LAGA sehen sie den genauen Standort der Skulptur. Das plastische Werk von Thomas Schönauer bewegt sich an der Grenze des technisch machbaren um Leichtigkeit zu suggerieren, so grazil und dynamisch es gestaltet ist, obwohl es aus schwerem Edelstahl gefertigt ist. Durch die Allansichtigkeit erobert die Skulptur raumgreifend ihren Standort auf den weitläufigen Flächen und durch ihre immer neuen Perspektiven lädt sie dazu ein, mehr vom gesamten Gebiet zu erkunden. Die Skulpturen des international anerkannten Künstlers Schönauer, der schon 2021 unsere Ausstellungsräume sowie den Außenbereich der Kunstinitiative vollständig bespielte, sind stets Teil eines architektonischen oder landschaftlichen Kontextes. Sie sind dem jeweiligen Ort, seiner Energie, dem besonderen Ambiente und den beteiligten Menschen gewidmet und er sagt:“ Künstler sind wie chinesische Ärzte - sie suchen nach den Energiezentren und verbinden sie, um noch höhere Energie zu erzeugen. Ihre skulpturalen Eingriffe werden zur Akupunktur der Landschaft“.
