🚨 Illinois has officially proclaimed April 2026 as Second Chance Month!
Last month was Second Chance Month—and what better way to kick it off than with Governor JB Pritzker signing this proclamation into law. The Clean Slate Illinois coalition is proud to celebrate this milestone, and we’ll be carrying that celebration forward all year long as we continue pushing for real second chances across our state.
The proclamation reminds us: “Second Chance Month is an opportunity to recognize the need to eliminate barriers that hinder successful reentry and to affirm that true justice includes ensuring access to opportunities for those who have been most vulnerable and marginalized.”

This year, FICPFM is doing things differently. Instead of one national convening, we are hosting four regional convenings across the country to make space for deeper connection, local strategy, and movement building that actually meets people where they are.
2026 Regional Convenings:
Chicago | July 17 to 19
Nashville | August 21 to 23
Washington, DC | September 17 to 19
Las Vegas | October 7 to 9
We strongly encourage folks to attend the convening in their region so you can build with the people, organizations, and leaders closest to the work happening in your own community.
These convenings are about more than showing up. They are about strengthening relationships, building local collaborations, and powering this movement together.
