๐๐๐๐๐ฝ๐๐๐ is a multi-device installation that takes the live audio ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ from Cornell Labโs FeederWatch cameras, re-broadcast it through a local FM radio transmitter. The live sound travels in the air but cannot be heard until the radio wave meets a receiver, where the frequencies are demodulated into an oscillating voltage level, activating the speaker coil and converting the analog data into sounds we can hear.
At the centre of this installation, a feeder device listens to the sound, and gets triggered when birds are fed and start singing โ happening simultaneously across hundreds of miles โ feeding the audiences, who feed the birds via online spectatorship and remote participation. ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฅ, ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฃ๐ข๐ค๐ฌ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ต๐ช๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฃ๐ข๐ค๐ฌ ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฃ๐ข๐ค๐ฌ.

For the 55 cities described in Calvino's book, any words related to cities and the concept of city are removed from the text along with their names, in a manual, non-algorithmical process. The image inserts also went through a similar removal procedure, selected from a personal collection of photos holding memories with the physical space in time.
When the names, towers and skyscrapers are erased, the boundary of ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ city becomes a vessel for ๐ข city, and ๐ข๐ฏ๐บ cities. The silhouette may look like ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ city, but no one can deny the possibility of another city that have appeared or to be appeared, fits exactly into this void.
When the names, towers and skyscrapers are invisible, the city itself becomes more visible. ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ค๐ฆ ๐ช๐ด ๐ฎ๐ข๐ณ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฃ๐บ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฃ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ค๐ฆ. This contradiction between visible and invisible is contained and mediated by the boundaries, which may appeared as explicit lines and pointers, but with infinite width and fractal qualities.

This is the city in my eyes.
The trees, the waves, the sky. They might be hidden behind the buildings and office ceilings, but their presence is persistent and genuine. Calvino writes in ๐๐ฏ๐ท๐ช๐ด๐ช๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐๐ช๐ต๐ช๐ฆ๐ด, โ๐ข๐ฏ ๐ช๐ฏ๐ท๐ช๐ด๐ช๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ด๐ค๐ข๐ฑ๐ฆ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ช๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ท๐ช๐ด๐ช๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ.โ What we considered as the city are surrounded by the elements, marking the boundary between them. If we turn the city out of focus into blankness, there must be some moments of peace stationed on the horizon, and I peek through the outline of the invisible city.
What can we own in ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ city? An identity status, an occupation, or an over-charged rental apartment? At least we can have the sky, anytime when we look across that boundary.
