I dunno if anyone reads all these captions, but here's a lil life update. At the end of last year, I was in this deep dissociative fog. I snapped out of it enough to realize I needed help, and since then, I've been medicated for ADHD and in weekly therapy sessions. This past month was the first time in a long time that I felt glimpses of myself. Maybe it was being overworked or regularly spending time with people I adore (not all of whom are featured here) or maybe it was some combination of the two? I don't know. I'm trying to heal and couldn't be more grateful to those who have given me space this month to be messy and broken. Words cannot express how good it feels to start breathing for the first time.
Heard blondes have more fun. Not true.

it is worth 3 minutes out of my day to advocate for the safety of those in my community. I felt even with my small platform that I needed to say something. call your senators. engage in your community. care about each other.

If you're in CA and you're trying to drop off your write in ballot, babe, you missed the window to do so. Go drop it off in person OR BETTER YET vote in person. There's something so fulfilling about using a polling place, and it's actually my preferred method of voting. BUT since there is ONE THING on the ballot in CA this cycle, I felt mail in worked best for me because I care about people and truly believe voting YES on PROP 50 is the best (and one of the only) way(s) to combat the horrors that the federal government have done during this presidential term.

If I were to talk to my younger self, both of us would be surprised to see the other. I would tell the little version of me that our best quality is the only thing that got us this far: across the country, away from a place that made us feel like a waste of air.

From a young age, we learned to try. Try to understand. Try to be better. Try to find a reason to wake up in the morning.
.
Younger me - life does not get easier, but it does change. You'll learn how to get back up each time you fall. You'll learn that you do not bruise easily, like you were told. You'll learn that anyone can say "I love you", even if it's so far from the truth.
.
You'll learn these lessons over and over again, nearly everyday, and for 28 years, it will break you. Then, one day, you'll find the strength to break the cycle and protect yourself. You will learn how to breathe for the first time. It is so scary. But good.
.
In no imagining of this life, did I assume 30 years was ever in the cards, but I am embracing the impossible. I am continuing to try. Learning to breathe. And continuing to push beyond what I ever dared to dream.
