Congratulations to @lukee_buck for being awarded the Matthew Styer scholarship this year, for showing exceptional dedication and skill in the field of Digital Media. Matt passed away from leukemia in 2011 at the age of 30, and to honor his memory and legacy as a remarkable photographer and graphic designer at EMU, members of Matt’s family created this scholarship. We congratulate Luke and remember Matt.
It all started with a school project... 🌱
What began as his daughter’s backyard pond project became a thriving ecosystem, and now, @emuvaca professor Steven David Johnson’s photography is featured on the cover of National Wildlife Magazine!
“For me, this is a story of hope," he said.

And just like that, Jerry’s final class has been taught! This was such a fun course of learning alternate methods of acquiring and printing photographs, where curiosity and experimentation was valued over perfection. There was gelatin…something called wondersauce…hand sanitizer…hair dryers…Japanese kinwashi paper…wood….metal… We made big messes, got frustrated, laughed a lot and wound up with new skills and some pretty cool work. Thanks @jerryholsopple !
