What Makes Us Human: 2026 CWI Capstone Artist Exhibition Celebrate the artistic and academic achievements of College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Studio Art graduates at the exhibit, What Makes Us Human, on display, beginning Thursday, April 16, at Boise State University’s Student Union Building Fine Arts Gallery. This year’s Studio Art cohort has selected the theme of What Makes Us Human as a reflection of their love of hand-processes, the exploration their identities and lived experience, and as a defiant expression of their joy for life in the face of a world that is increasingly hostile to our shared humanity. The 2025 CWI Capstone Artist Exhibition celebrates the artistic and academic achievements of the following Studio Art graduates: Ahmed Abouzeid, Ali Henslee, Ilene Antonov, Jordan Dunbar, Josie Carver, Kiera Edington, Marcus Hernandez, Bronwyn Hitchcock, Victor Castro, Ellie Wilson, Amalia Thomas, Gracie Kay Sosa, Casey Stitzel, Nalani Roberts, Gloria Pineda, Sadie Meyer, Rachel Mayhew, Natalie Masterson, Avamarie Madrigal, Audrey Ava Larson, Eden Erryn Hunt, Jordan Boswell. The exhibit will run from April 16 – May 11 and can be viewed between 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily. In addition, students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to an opening reception Thursday, April 16, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. My___on Mondays Episode 215: Kelly Cox and Eric Mullis are a long-standing collaborative artist team who met on a ceramics field trip in high school in Madison, Wisconsin. Over decades of working together, they have produced work across five states and exhibited nationally and internationally. Their work investigates the dissonance between physical, digital, and psychic space, drawing on the mythologies of architecture, product display, and media spectacle. At the end of their residency at MING, Kelly and Eric met with Matt Bunk during a busy day at Artfort to talk trickery, collaboration, and appropriate responses to a chaotic world. My___on Mondays explores the possessive “My” through narratives, art and sound. Every Monday, we publish a new audio, performance or experimental piece where only one rule applies: the title must begin with the determiner “My”. Sunday March 29th, 4-5 pm MING Studios Dew Line Featuring Art by Kelly Cox, Eric Mullis, and Christine Atkinson. Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dew Line is a distinctive suite of songs by Amy Hager and Jacob Mullis of Fort Wilson Riot. The project was conceived and written in response to both the multimedia work Slow Burn—created by Kelly Cox and Eric Mullis—and the recent federal ICE occupation in Minnesota. Blending elements of psychedelic rock, art pop, and folk, the songs explore themes of hope amid disaster, the challenges of parenting in toxic times, and the search for beauty and community within the surrounding chaos. . . . . . . . #artfort #treefort #treefortmusicfest #boise #backrooms

MING Studios is happy to have the work of Christine Atkinson on view in the space as part of Back Rooms, a series of art installations curated by Eric Mullis and Kelly Cox, tucked into the hidden corners and forgotten edges of Treefort Fest. Atkinson’s works explore how the land tells a story. Burn scars, wildfire debris, damaged water systems and sites of intense colonial history all weave their way through the photography, installation and sculpture of Atkinson’s practice. These places spread throughout the West are haunted, bearing witness to western expansion and exploitation. Importantly they are not remote but accessible. They are part of the everyday, found on the edges of roadsides, in our county parks and along transit routes. History, ecology, the wilderness, these are all things that are intertwined with our daily lives. By drawing out these stories through her work, Atkinson nurtures the connection of the land and the people who inhabit it. She gives a voice and agency to those who have been forgotten and to stories that have been overwritten. Christine Atkinson was born in Stockton, CA and raised in Northern California. She received her undergraduate degree from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara California and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. Atkinson has shown work both across the United States as well as internationally. The Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum in Long Beach California, SOIL in Seattle, Monte Vista Projects in Los Angeles, Focus Photo LA and has participated in “Art in Paper New York’’, the London Art Fair, Uniòn in Mexico City and SCOTTY in Berlin Germany. Atkinson recently had a solo show, “Are we here for ourselves alone?” at the Bountiful Davis Art Center, in Bountiful Utah. She is the creator of the ongoing research project “The Native Garden Map”, which is a database of native plant spaces and gardens in the Los Angeles area. Atkinson is a current member of the artist collective, Monte Vista Projects. She lives and works in Los Angeles. catkinson.com BACK ROOMS Open Hours @ MING Studios Friday, March 27 - Sunday, March 29 4-9PM @catkinson03 @emuart @kellycoxclay
