Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Emmy Ly, founder of Emthurium - a non-traditional floral design studio based in NYC.
I’m a native New Yorker (raised in Queens & LES). As a first gen, I’m so proud of be Vietnamese-Chinese🎋🧧
I get asked quite often “what is your biggest inspiration for flowers?” And to that I will always say my heritage and nature. I love earth tones from forest parks, beaches, sunrise/ sunsets, wild flowers, and everything in between. While simultaneously also being influenced by being raised in a city where you have to survive and be innovative. This leads to a motto I use often “always replicated, never duplicated”- which fuels my need to always be different, invite curiosity, and take up space for my AAPI, POC, LGBTQ+ community.
Some fun facts about me:
• becoming a foodie has changed my life
• I’m obsessed with clean skincare, makeup & products
• My life long dream is to have a stampede of corgis & cats with my girlfriend
• I have a background of being an oil painter & visual merchandiser
