Puked, rallied and still got that PR!!
Ooof this was a tough one - had some lofty goals and felt so confident going into the race that I could make them happen, but they all went out the window around mile 15. And that’s the thing about the marathon, you train and you prepare as best as you can, but it doesn’t always go your way. So you adapt and you push, because that’s all you can do. Those last 11 miles were not pretty but boy oh boy were they rewarding!!!
So many people who made this training block particularly great, but the biggest shoutout goes to my coaches
@amber_rees @lindseyclayton23 @bravebodyproject who created a plan, gave me endless encouragement and helped me feel physically and mentally stronger than I ever have! Also to
@jwrieden whose pre-race message I kept replaying in my head, “right foot, left foot. repeat.” To
@danmusacchio who joined me for countless training runs, to
@celinerogers who kept me going and ran with me, glass of wine in hand. To
@madstess who is forever my biggest cheerleader (I may have missed her sign during the race but don’t worry, I said yes). And finally, to
@athleta for making it all happen.
Now time to rest, recover and never even think about eating watermelon Sour Patch Kids ever again!!
