LUCY 💔
Most people want a trip to Vegas for their 21st birthday. I wanted Lucy.
I first saw her after I’d heard the foundation we’d adopted our other three dogs from rescued 15 dogs in 15 minutes. Every day, they would live stream the litter and I always noticed one puppy sitting alone in the corner. Lucy.
When she was finally old enough to be adopted, I went to meet her and immediately knew she was mine. The foundation kindly held her for me while I worked out the logistics - we already had 2 dogs, I was still in college etc.
Nearly 2 months later, I brought my new best friend home and my life was forever changed.
She was the sweetest dog I had ever met, despite not liking most other dogs and humans. Those who have met her understand. She loved being outside but hated walks. She was easy to please - only ever wanting love, sunshine and the eventual discovery - peanut butter. She was quiet but had the biggest personality.
She was with me through some of the toughest times these last 13 years. I’ve loved and lost dogs before but somehow this one hits different. I’m absolutely heartbroken and already miss her more than I can put into words. While I know there will be many more dogs in my future, there will forever be a Lucy shaped hole in my heart.
