Photography by Ranae Keane of the first 24 hours of the Mauna Loa Volcanic Eruption 🌋 on Hawaii Island. Mauna Loa Hawaiian in English translates to- Long Mountain. Mauna Loa is one of five volcanoes that form the Island of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. The largest volcano in both mass and volume, Mauna Loa is the largest volcano on Earth. It is an active shield volcano erupting for the first time in almost 4 decades on November 2022. Mauna Loa has been erupting for at least 700,000 years. The volcano’s magma comes from the Hawaii hotspot, which has been responsible for the creation of the Hawaiian island chain over tens of millions of years. Ryan and Jackie’s wedding photographed by @EMotionGalleries . The ceremony and reception were held at the Kona sea salt farm. This location was chosen because the bride is from the East Coast of the United States, and the groom is from Australia. The Big Island of Hawaii is right in between for all the guests to enjoy. The lovely event was planned by Sunshower weddings. The rain during the ceremony provided for some dramatic and memorable moments. The party was wild and lively. The ocean was waving this sunrise on the Kona coast. Big waves. Deep skies. Lava rock glowing after high tide. This sweet couple traveled from Canada for their babymoon on the Big Island, and mama-to-be told me she had dreamed of photos in the water after seeing some of my ocean work @emotiongalleries . The surf was too strong to safely place them near the waves, so instead… we found something even more magical. A quiet saltwater pool tucked into the lava rock. Stillness beside power. Reflection beside movement. She stepped carefully through the tide pools, watched for sea urchins, was comfortable completely soaked, and trusted the process with so much grace. And the result felt like poetry written by the island itself. Sometimes the ocean doesn’t give you the plan. Nature gives you something better. Set on the beautiful luau grounds at the King Kamehameha Beach Hotel Marriott @konabeachresort , their ceremony and reception unfolded with the ocean just steps away and the spirit of Kona all around them. The venue truly shines here — their team knows how to create a setting that feels both vibrant and effortlessly welcoming (and if you’ve seen their socials, you know they do it with style). The couple chose bold pinks and blues, bringing a burst of color and personality to the entire evening. And the food & beverage team absolutely knocked it out of the park — especially the pastry and dessert table, which looked as incredible as it tasted.
