Big city energy. Mini essay of rambling airport thoughts šŸ”» No real agenda or job title for the past few days, so it’s been a real treat to hang out at the House of @sportsshoes for socials runs along the canal on routes that are etched into my memory, bouncing from cafe to cafe, literally and otherwise bumping into people, micro moments of mentorship, childlike joy at the Southbank Centre with Emmy The Great, new shoes (@asics superblast 3 — hi, yes, love you. also made little etched tags for them, which felt important). Half of @sportsshoes.patt were together to process what we should, could, and will do this season. it feels like something. I have an internal compass for the team that I don’t present outwardly that much but I am so excited for all the team to get a stage to show what they enjoy most and how. Personally I’ve got to reallocate energy to recovering better, stressing less. The interest is fully there. Running makes it easy. Also shoutout to @softboi_fitness , my fave PT on the block in Margate/Kent.

Sardinia a few weeks back: 800m sandy gravel reps, wearing the VJ Tempo, same shoe I chose to wear for two multi-surface races back in the UK over Christmas. The range. Since then I’ve been moderately functional. A lot more gym, a fresh new love for local roads. Today I ran. There’s a lot of momentum in the @sportsshoes.patt team right now and I am fully swept up in it ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

The mentorship angle is a good place to start. The internal mode: half of us have been around longer. Half of us are learning fast. The external mode: Bringing in friends, experts, specialists—showing up for workshops, talks, runs. A space where asking questions isn’t a weakness. It’s the whole point. And it’s not just for us – it’s for everyone. Watch out for more behind the scenes from training and racing as we head to our first week of racing as a team this week šŸ‘€ šŸ“· by @1_in_the_gutter #proalpinetrailteam #sportsshoespatt #patt #trailrunning #unrivalledinrunning

Human intelligence moves faster and with more creativity than its artificial counterpart. Running on a small amount of sugar instead of a reactor, it is free to think, it understands nuance, and it’s not bound to the digital realm. So how do avoid detection? How do you slip past systems? Super excited to be part of @sportsshoes.patt Mentorship is a big part of the vision – inside and outside of the team – and that really matters to me. I’ve picked up so much from other people over the course of more years than I want to count, so the idea of a platform that gives it back feels pretty special. Thanks to @sportsshoes for seeing the value in this/us. Looking forward to shared suffering, moving fast, being surprised, and doing it all with the buoyancy of some seriously talented, well-rounded people on the team. Racing + IRL and digital workshops coming soon. It might sound a bit abstract at the moment, but I can see where it’s heading. Keen for all of it.

Siamo tutti fierissimi di te, @emmiecoll šŸ‘‘šŸ”„ Thanks to @1_in_the_gutter for the amazing photos šŸ“ø @nadia.battocletti šŸ”„šŸ”„ā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ™ŒšŸ»šŸ™ŒšŸ» @bresaolabordoni @campacciocross @fidal_lombardia

Eight VW75s on the start line of Brighton 10K last week: a small but mighty slice of the UK rankings. Mum was one of them. Still competitive. Still turning up. Still campaigning for participation with the same energy she brings to racing almost every weekend because for her, running is – above all – a social thing. I joined her on her first sub-60 since getting two new hips. We kept clipping elbows, and I definitely slipped into somewhat overbearing coach-in-training mode. And, selfishly, I most loved listening to the post-race debrief between her and the other VW75s, double-checking their actual ages (there’s an big difference between 77 and 75.5), and rating their runs as they chase national vests. It made me wonder what I’ll be obsessing over at their age. Thanks to @soarrunning & @collingemaddy for a lovely hour’s run along the sea front where we used to spend every holiday. 🫶

Part of me loves racing as a way to measure progress. The other part loves, maybe even more so, that progress also means being in one piece to experience the seasons up close. We’re into my fave running szn now. It’s a brief one before the snow falls properly, so go outside and enjoy it.
