Project Panorama (2025) video loop 3’ by Emma van der Put Courtesy tegenboschvanvreden, Amsterdam The eye glides along, until it remains still at the back of a bronze sculpture. A statue of a woman who wears a long, pleated head covering and, with her back facing the camera, looks out at the immense bluish glass wall of a modern office tower. We circulate throughout the Botanical Gardens of Brussels, which were inaugurated in the nineteenth century. Here Emma van der Put made video recordings of the sculptures that are still standing in the botanical garden today. In her work 'Project Panorama' (2025) they are the protagonists who, from their anchored position in history, witness the city’s rapid development. With their tranquil drama the group of statues contrasts with an environment full of anonymous, geometrically designed architectural giants. The park is a time capsule, where past, present and future seem to be in suspended animation.  Text: Pietje Tegenbosch Project Panorama (2025) will be on view @tegenboschvanvreden until 10.01.2026 Alongside works by: Krystel Geerts, Lieve Hakkers, Michal Helfman, Paul Kooiker, Cristina Lucas, Ana Navas, Marien Schouten, Dieuwke Spaans and Marenne Welten.

(...) On one shore death, on the other life. Here despair, there hope. (...) We know how to divide ourselves, how true, we too. But only into body and an interrupted whisper. Into body and poetry. VISIO - Moving Images in Europe Since the 2010s With warm memories of participating in the VISIO – European Programme on Artists’ Moving Images in 2014, organized by Lo schermo dell’arte in Florence. ‘Mother’ at Holland Festival 2024 Happy to share that a work which is dear to me, the video loop ‘Mother’ that I made in 2012, will be on view in a group show curated by Kasia Tórz at Frascati, during the entire festival. This year, the Holland Festival program at Frascati is curated under the notion of Scar. A scar is a visceral fact, not a symbol or a metaphor. Because all scars take on flesh, act on the body. This performative quality of scars bonds all works of visual art gathered into this program. With works by: Jonathas de Andrade, Daan Gielis, Monika Mamzeta and Emma van der Put. ‘'Mother’ establishes a hypnotic, temporary encounter between the eyes of a woman on the screen and the eyes of the viewer. Seemingly motionless, the image captures us through the directness of the shot and its emotional proximity. This looped video oscillates between darkness and light, becoming a meditation on the cycle of life.’ 07.06. to 23.06.2024 Open every evening from 7PM to 11PM Frascati, Nes 63, Amsterdam (Link in bio) Courtesy @tegenboschvanvreden

Tomorrow! Common Reflection Thursday 8th of February at Level5 Van Overbeke @levelfive.brussels Common Reflection aims to nurture a supportive ecosystem for artists to connect and get feedback on their work. We begin with collective cooking because we believe this is an important step towards building relations. During the dinner, @roshandipuppo @jonathan.franz and @emmavanderput will present an artwork, specifically made for this occasion or not. Common Reflection can be a space for motivating, testing, sharing, doubting, … we aim to weave connections among artists and organisations within the Brussels Artist Run Network (BARN). Each session will take place at a new location. Looking forward to see you in the kitchen, at the table!! Organized by Nikolaj Jessen and Hanne van Dyck @hannevandyck Welcome to bring veggies, snacks and drinks. We will be making soup 08.02.24 // 6PM / 22PM Van Overbekelaan 160, Brussels

Next week: Blue Screen # 10 Five Year Anniversary 31.01.2024 Doors open 7:30PM | Screening begins 8PM at SMOG: Avenue Van Volxem 380, Brussels We are delighted to invite you to join us in celebrating the 10th edition of Blue Screen and its 5 year anniversary, on Wednesday the 31st of January. Every Blue Screen we ask the artist in focus of the evening to propose a next guest for the upcoming edition. For our 10th screening program, we wanted to take the opportunity to look back at the chain of affinity and complicity that has developed among the various Blue Screen artists since the inception of this concept in 2019. Each of the artists in focus of the past nine Blue Screen editions will present one short film, and we'll watch them in chronological order. The evening will consist of works by: Graham Kelly, Toon Fibbe, Anouchka Oler, Katja Mater, Fairuz Ghammam, Adina Ionescu-Muscel, Stéphanie Roland, Caroline Corbason and Eponine Momenceau. Blue Screen is initiated by Chloé Malcotti & Emma van der Put and produced by Level Five and hypernuit.
