“Butcherbird”. I altered the design a little more on this one, changing the way the two halves join and refining the linking mechanism between the lamp base and print. I used a Matt yellow PLA and I am loving the warm glow. I am calling this done. #butcherbird #lamp #3dprint #warmglow
‘Sleeping arrangements”. Jake refuses to sleep on the dog’s single bed next to ours. If we don’t let him sleep on our bed he will go and lie down on the floor and make us feel so bad that we call him up to sleep on our bed. He is heavy and lays on top of the blankets and anchors them to the bed so that they are immobilised. Penny sleeps soundly under her blankets until the middle of the night. Then she wakes up and nudges a sleepy Phil ,until he gets up and goes to the spare room ,so she can claim his warm spot in our bed.. #sleep #dogs #digitaldrawing #dailydrawing
Bird light prototype 1. This design came from a drawing I did of one of the butcherbirds I see on my morning walks. I wanted to illuminate it, so had to make the centre accessible and deep enough for a lightbulb. I used dovetail joints for the first time, they are a bit flimsy and loose, so version two might use magnets instead. A happy accident was the light that radiates out between the feathers on the wings. Next version will have thinner walls to allow more light out. #prototype #3dprint #experiment #light #australianartist
‘Mothers Day’ Cards from everyone, a beautiful banana bowl and a lovely lunch on the back veranda. #mothersday #family #digitaldrawing #australianartist

Bit of a weird one today @urbansketchersmaryborough when I chose to tackle the School of Arts. I was sitting on my camp chair in front of the town hall when I heard a lot of noise and looked up to see some sort of march heading my way down Kent St. It was a Labour Day march, in support of unionism, with the apparent end point of the march being right where I was sitting. I was totally engrossed in drawing and was told I wasn’t in the way. It was a relaxed event and the participants were friendly and apologetic as I was surrounded by them for a few minutes before they ambled away and left me to continue my sketch. This image is a combination of traditional and digital drawing, using my sketch from this morning as the background. #maryboroughqld #labourday2026 #mixedmedia #traditionalanddigital
I had so much fun making this Jake lamp. I sandwiched together some boards from an old bed head to make the wooden base and used just about every tool we had to shape it and add the holes I needed. I have been giggling ever since I decided to add the second light in his tail. #experimentallight #blueheeler #dogart #3dprint #australianartist
I was asked by several people if Jake would also get a light - my answer is of course! I am still experimenting with sizes and need to make a base, but progress is being made. #3dprint #artlight #blueheeler #bluelight #australianartist
A new light! A 3D printed sculpt I made of Penny and reclaimed redwood. It reminds me a bit of the Bat phone for some reason, like I activate the light and make Penny’s head glow when I have the urge to snuggle with a pup…. #experimental #lamp #dogart #3dprint #australianartist
‘New step for old dogs”. Phil made Penny and Jake a step to get in and out of the car and it works a treat. #newstep #woodworker #beachwalk #illustratinglife #digitaldrawing
