Doctor! Doctor! Heal Yourself !!!! š«š«
A belated post for my Hannah Banana girl. Itās impossible to compose a proper love letter on here.. Iāll do it mostly in pictures, because thatās our language anyhow. But I will also say
Thank you for trusting me with your galactic complexities- your shiny brilliance, your catastrophic mistakes, your big, absolutely aching heart, your unwavering loyalty, your blinding anger.
I love you⦠because of and despite all these things. Thatās the great gift of getting to play an antagonist.
I donāt judge you. I get to learn from you. Playing you helped me take accountability over my own fallibility, playing you shed light on my unhelpful behavioral patterns and break them, playing you inspired me to fall in love with aloneness, rather than numbing loneliness away.
I love you Dr. Hannah, from your iconic put together everythingās FINE hahahahahHAHA ponytail to your nerve wracking coping skill tap tap tap tap taps to the imperceptible edges of your most secret shadow.
āI wanted to be a doctor my whole life.ā

Today I am spotlighting Emma Pfitzer Price, an up-and-coming actress who really impressed me with her recurring role on DOC this season. As āDr. Hannah Clarkā, Emma had quite an arc!Ā She was able to show us so many shades from professional integrity to obsessive compulsion to utter defeat. And she held her own in a powerhouse ensemble cast. Whether she returns to her stage roots or continues to find her way in TV/Film, Iām looking forward to seeing what she does next.
I asked Emma a few questions and here is what she had to say:
WHAT ROLE OR PROJECT THAT YOUāVE DONE ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
Definitely DOC, without question. I learned so much on this show. Network television is very demandingā the nature of its production necessitates you stay really present and in the moment. Also, this fantastically complex character, Dr. Hannah Clark, asked me to unflinchingly embrace a lot of darkness⦠Iām so proud of how I nourished my safety in order to sustain that work. Having this touchstone of belief in myself allowed me to really go there. I knew I had my back. It took a lot of time and intentional work to get to that place in my craft, so I am very proud and excited to build on that :)
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
I would tell myself to stop caring so much about what others think about me⦠SoĀ useless and exhausting, right?! Itās out of my control and always will be. Placating to it or obsessing over it gets me out of touch with my authenticity. And I need that in order to be a great actor. I donāt want it to look like pretending, I want it to look like the truth. I would tell myselfā¦. Trust my good heart, trust my intricate work ethic, trust my forgiving body. Lead with love, not hate. Stay loud. And keep climbing trees.Ā
Emma has so much more to share (including a very funny audition story) - KEEP READING IN THE COMMENTS!!!

Emma Pfitzer Price @emmapfitz breaks down what Hannah truly wants on DOC ā and itās more than just justice.
āSheās looking for a rational explanation for her grief⦠but sometimes that answer just doesnāt exist.ā
Watching Hannah wrestle with logic, science, and loss in real time has been one of the most powerful arcs of the series.
What do YOU think Hannah is really searching for ā justice, validation, peace⦠or something else?
