Purple and green keep coming back and I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what these colours mean. Purple carries layers of meaning — in some cultures, it speaks of mourning and grief, a softness that holds loss with dignity. In others, it rises to represent nobility, honor, and a sense of quiet strength. Today, it often leans into individuality — a colour for those who don’t quite fit the mould (in the best way). Then comes green — grounding it all. Growth, renewal, life pushing forward. Together, they create a conversation: 💜 emotion, depth, identity 💚 balance, nature, possibility It’s contrast, but not conflict. More like a reminder that beauty can exist in both stillness and growth, in endings and beginnings. At the time this was painted I was in a place of both joy and grief, the two can co exist. Iris 100 x 100cm - available

Colour studies, don’t you just 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 starting a new sketchbook! Now do I keep this sketchbook as colour studies through and through or will I just change it up as I go?

I’ve been trying new things lately for inspiration and to learn and grow. I’ve been working on raw canvas, which has been incredibly fun but also a big learning curve. The materials work so differently on unprepared canvas compared to the gesso panels and canvas rolls I usually use. I’m loving the rawness and the struggle against learning something new, the frustration comes but then the little aha moments make it work it!

Enjoy the process of becoming ✨ Such a beautiful way of thinking and I really think it applies to creating. I think in this day and age with social media, a faster paced world and everything at our fingertips we often want to achieve more, do more and be better. This is a reminder to enjoy the process, to be present in where you are with your creativity now. Enjoy it ❤️ #enjoytheprocess #creativityatitsbest #creativitymatters #enjoybecoming #artisttips

When the light hits a view at a certain angle, everything rearranges itself. Shadows lengthen, colours deepen, edges soften or sharpen without warning. What felt ordinary a moment ago becomes charged, almost luminous. It isn’t the landscape that has changed, but the way it’s revealed and in that shift, your perspective tilts too. As the light shifts 79 x 79 x 3.5cm framed in a natural tray frame. Mixed media (Acrylic, wax pastels and graphite) on panel.

Things I’ve learnt over the years and I stand by ➜ 1. Consistency over perfection - nothing will kill your creatively more than aiming for perfection 2. Taking a break from your art is okay, and sometimes necessary to feel that spark again 3. You have to try new things to grow - don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone or get stuck in your “style” learning new things makes you better 4. Don’t be afraid to fail - we all think failing is such a shameful negative thing. When really all it is is trying something and seeing if it works out, trying and putting yourself out there is better than not learning and exploring new things. 5. Be patient with your work - we’ve all been there where we want to be further ahead in our creative career or skill level. The mind / hand disconnect is real! But be patient, keep going and you’ll get there. 6. Letting go - sometimes plans change, they turn out differently than you expected, work changes and revolves and all of that is okay. Letting go to make way for new things is just a step in a new direction - it’s exciting! 7. Not everyone will understand your vision - I remember having all these grand ideas and plans to have a studio of my own, to sell my paintings - and I did achieve these things, but back then when I had yet to put brush to canvas how were the people around me meant to see that vision? Only you can, so go and be! They will see it eventually! 8. Most importantly have fun with it, make time to enjoy what you do. Try not to compare yourself to otherwise and definitely don’t let the algorithm get to you. Try and remember why you started painting in the first place. If you read this thank you, sending the creative support and love your way ❤️
