Introducing Ella Edwards (@emkunwar ), who will be showing in our Graduate Diploma in Art Show 2025.
Ella Kunwar is a London-based artist working in sculpture, textiles, installation and moving image. Rooted in her role as a mother, her practice seeks to challenge existing narratives around care, motherhood, and the postpartum body. She takes inspiration from seemingly opposing ideas such as motherhood and desire, domestic maintenance and sexuality, repetitive labour and creativity, butting these concepts up against each other to create uncomfortable, confronting works.
Her moving images, appearing both sexual and non-sexual, alongside materials taken from the domestic, the online and childhood, challenge the viewer to question what it means to exist simultaneously in often contradictory territories.
The Graduate Diploma in Art Show is open to the public from 18–22 July 2025 at Goldsmiths, University of London. Open daily from 10am–7pm, with slightly different hours on Sunday (11am–5pm).

Still can’t believe my work has made it into the @royalacademyarts
Postpartum looks at my experience of postpartum haemorrhage after the birth of my second daughter. The weight of the work equates to the blood loss I suffered. This piece acts as a self portrait of that moment, by removing the female figure from this work I hope to provide a space focused on, but not confined by the female form, offering a way to explore unspoken experiences and emotions. The use of yarn and craft techniques is very important to my practice, thank you #veronicaryan for including such a range of mediums 🧶❤️
