What a week!
We started last week in the Highlands with David Narro, visiting some fascinating conservation projects with highly considered engineering inputs. It was such a treat to hear the stories from a lifetime in engineering.
Then we ended the week back home in Edinburgh, I always feel so lucky to live in this city. Thank you to Nic Boyes for teaching us about the monuments at Greyfriars Kirkyard - it was great to learn about the view from my office window!
Also amazing to meet all of the interesting folks at the SPAB Scotland drinks!

Day 5 of the @spab1877 Fellowship…….TFIF.
The beginning of notebook dissection has begun.
Like a night shift, but with a beer & a pen.
.
Where do we begin, ‘The Harris Bone gauger’ (clearly Andrew Harris owns a pencil case 007 would be proud of). Such a great visit to Hampton Court.
The national treasure that is Dan Cruikshank, truly a moving and memorable afternoon around Spitalfields.
Spitalfields having great significance and a centre point to our week, we were treated to sketch with Architect Mark Power.
I’m a lad that can’t draw scale…..Mark helped, now excited to see how this goes…
Ally Pally, what can I say…. If anyone can succeed at the reins, Ian can. An amazing dedicated team there.
Here’s to next week.
Man, we’re lucky……
A wall made of glass bottles, an abandoned BBC studio and a stunning brickwork basement 🧱 Just a few wonders when exploring the hidden parts of @yourallypally
What a way to end the first week of the @spab1877 Scholarship!

Amazing first day on the SPAB scholarship at Hampton Court Palace 🏰
The most incredible chimneys! Such an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal, clearly a lot of care has gone into them - no two are the same!
