I’ve been working on a new pattern and I’ve finally got it to a point where I’m happy with the design, so I wanted to share! It’s an apron-style dress designed to be worn over a tee or light sweater. It has side gathers, adjustable straps, and two pocket options (patch or inseam). I’m thinking to offer two lengths and including a hacking guide of ideas that didn’t make it into the final design, so there’ll be plenty of opportunity for personalization! It’s designed for light- to mid-weight wovens; the version I’ve sewn here is in a 6oz linen. So far it doesn’t have a name (I’ve been affectionally calling it the side scrunch apron dress, but I need to think of something better before that sticks 😂) So if you feel like it, suggest a name in the comments and if I end up using it, I’ll send you a copy of the pattern when it’s released!
Timing-wise I still need to do the grading and instructions, so I’m hoping for a late spring/early summer release. Stay tuned :)

My Frankie sweater is finished! I sped through this one and finished it in just over a month, which is pretty fast for me. Originally I’d planned an Olga sweater for this yarn but decided to change it up slightly since I’ve already made the cardigan. I enjoyed making this one but I think I’m over working with stripes for a little while 😂 All the details are on my ravelry!

Basing my outfits on different colour combinations 🎨
My original idea for this video was to randomly flip to a page in the book and let the colour palettes “choose” my outfits. I quickly realized that wouldn’t work because my overall wardrobe colours aren’t that varied. Most of my clothes are neutral (black, grey, white, and arguably beige/brown) and the bulk of the colours come from blues and greens with a very small pop of red. So I’m definitely lacking in the pink-purple-orange-yellow end of the spectrum. But that’s okay! I ended up choosing colour palettes I thought I could make work, and it was still a fun and challenging exercise that got me to combine pieces that I normally wouldn’t have thought to pair together.
Let me know if you have q’s about a specific item I’m wearing in the comments!

Just in time for gardening season: the rose raglan 🌹
I’m a big fan of a raglan sleeve and this is no exception! For fabric I went with this linen cotton chambray denim which is slightly heavier than recommended but worked ok. I love how the wrong side is a slightly different colour which shows when I roll up the sleeves. I had to absolutely squeeze the pattern out of the 1.5m I bought (I’m starting to get tired of having too many fabric scraps so I’ve started getting more daring playing fabric chicken.) Thankfully I won this time! I made a size F based on my bust measurement and I’m happy with the fit. it feels accurately oversized as described which is my preferred fit. After reading reviews I decided to swap the original sleeve placket for the one from the Elbe textiles Cornell shirt. More detailed thoughts/notes are on my threadloop project page! Worn here with a pair of self-drafted jeans.

Potting pants for spring 🌷
I’ve had a pair of big white pants on my to-sew list for a while and finally got around to making these. I debated between the arthur and potting pants patterns to go for a Cordera curve trouser vibe. I love both patterns but ultimately went for the potting pants since I’ve made them more recently and I wanted something that felt easy and approachable.
It’s still a little cool for full on spring outfits so I paired them with my wool lakes pullover. I made a size M (same as last time), and my only mod was to sew two lines of topstitching on the waistband to create a drawstring channel. I used some deadstock cord drawstring which I have a massive 150m roll of from @oursocialfabric and which maybe gives them too much of an athletic vibe, so I might switch to a matching fabric one instead. Fabric is softened organic cotton in ivory from @blackbirdfabrics which is thankfully a lot less sheer than I thought it would be!

It’s been a while, so here’s a roundup of things I’ve made recently:
1. A fully-lined Marzipan coat in chocolate brown wool - This was my second time making a lined version, this time in a longer coat. The first time around I managed to delete all the photos I took before I could make a tutorial, so I had to do it twice, but I’m not mad because I love this one too. I have a very detailed article on my blog about how to do this hack if you’re interested.
2. Self-drafted straight leg jeans - I based the fit of these off of a RTW pair that I really love. I ended up having to take in the waist after the fact and need to tweak a few areas of the pattern, but overall I’d say they’re not bad for a first draft! Worn with my striped void sweater which I made a while ago but not sure ever made it to the grid.
3. Zip fly Frey jeans - I’ve made a couple of Freys with a hacked zipper fly, and this time wanted to try it with denim to try to replicate a pair I saw and really loved. I’m not sure what it is about these ones but something feels off to me; maybe it’s the fit, the length, the fabric, or some kind of combination of everything? Maybe they just need a good press, lol. Not every make is going to be a 10/10, and that’s okay!
4. Red simple slouchy sweater - I had this yarn in my stash for ages and knew I wanted to make a babaa-style sweater with it. But as time went on I really started to second guess my colour choice, even up until the point it was off the needles and blocking. But as soon as I tried it on, I did a complete 180. I love the fit and how vibrant the colour is, and I’m surprised at how well it works with everything in my wardrobe.
Which make is your favourite? Details for all the fabrics, yarns, etc are on my Threadloop/Ravelry pages, or ask away in the comments! Shoes are @smalllotco .
My last make of 2025 and first make of 2026: the Olga jacket and Wren fleece 🧶🧵
I took a bit off time off from here for the holidays so I’m just now getting around to posting a couple of recent makes. Starting off with the #olgajacket which was my final finished knit of last year (squeezed in just at the last minute!) This was my first time working with stripes which was fun. Earlier last year I tried my first colour work project by jumping straight into intarsia and it didn’t go as planned. I know stripes aren’t even really colour work but this felt like a good way to veeeery slowly ease into changing colours 😂 I made a size M, yarn is @sandnesgarn #peergynt from @fiafiayarns . Worn with secondhand levi’s and @smalllotco Mary Janes.
Next is the #wrenfleece. I wanted a simple project to jump back into sewing after a bit of a break, and for me that usually means a knit. I find them super easy and satisfying to sew since I mostly just use my serger. I made this one in a double knit jacquard from @oursocialfabric and it fees like the perfect choice. It’s super soft and has a really lovey drape, although it doesn’t have the best recovery and I can already see the neckline stretching out. Next time I make this I’m also going to try curving the bottom of the sleeve down at the centre by 1-2cm because I feel like the cuffs stick out a little when my arms are down at my sides. Otherwise very happy with this one and it will be on heavy rotation for me I think! Worn here with some sweats and slippers which is a very typical wfh outfit for me, although one of my goals this year is to ‘get dressed’ more often day to day. But I also want to keep it real and this is what I’m actually wearing today so that’s what you’re getting, blue socks and all!
Thanks for following along, & I’m looking forward to creating and sharing lots more this year ✨
Back in summer, I reworked the Frey pants pattern to have a zipper fly so I could make a more tailored pair of shorts. They turned out pretty well, so I finally decided to give the pants version a try! I transferred the modifications I made over to view B and sewed them up in a cotton corduroy, and here’s the result.
I’m calling this a modification instead of a hack because (just to me personally), hacking a pattern is a more simple/straightforward change that can be done without too much fuss, whereas this required basically redoing the entire upper portion of the pattern. I took the waist back in, then drafted the zip fly as well as a curved waistband and belt loops. I also added back darts and patch pockets. There are a few small things that I would change next time around: the back pockets could be a little higher, the leg could be narrower at the hem (they turned out more of a wide leg than a straight leg), and I’d like to see what they look like with two smaller pleats instead of one deep one. They’re a little loose so I could also probably take them in even more for a better fit at the waist, but they’re super comfy and overall I’m happy with them!
Worn here with my old favourite Lakes Pullover. Details for all the fabric/yarn etc for both projects are on my threadloop and ravelry pages. Let me know if you’d be interested in seeing a zip fly as an add-on to the original Freys, or even as a standalone pattern!

Wearing my new butter yellow #zakkuricardigan 🧈 🍌
This is a really nice pattern with some fun details that make it unique. I misjudged the sizing and made a size 4 when I probably should have gone with the 3. I like the fit of the body but the sleeves feel a bit overwhelming. I tried it on when it was close to dry after blocking and the sleeves were way too long, so I threw it in the dryer on extra low for 10 mins and I think it helped a bit. I might try another round of washing and drying, but I’ll wear it a little first before I decide.
The only mod I made was to knit the buttonholes into the band as I worked the body instead of adding them after the fact.
Pattern is by @noriko_ichikawa_ . Yarn is @knittingforolive heavy merino in dusty banana. All the details are on my ravelry!

My latest Marzipan coat is the perfect fall staple 🍂 I made this version in a wool blend with a hacked lining and I’m so happy with how it turned out. I made view A so it’s cropped and boxy, although next time around I could crop it a little more. I made a size 10 and I probably could have gone down to an 8, but as it is it’s great for layering over bulkier sweaters. I left out the chest pocket and changed the lower pockets to have curved edges. And I also used the same sleeve facings I had drafted for my barn jacket version.
I was totally planning on writing up a lining hacking guide, and then I accidentally erased the process photos I took off of my camera before transferring them 🤦♀️ I could still write up the steps but it won’t be as clear as it would with the photos, so I might have to make another (I have a brown wool in my stash that would make a beautiful longer version). Let me know if you still want to see the guide or if you’d rather wait for a proper tutorial! I might also film a video for it this time around.
All of the details of this project are on my @threadloop.app as well if you want to follow me there! Worn here with a thrifted tee, Levi’s 501 90’s, and alohas flats (last two via Poshmark.)

Finished my Bepeu Blouse just in time for fall 🍂 I had started this project way back in the spring but left it to hibernate for the last few months while I worked on summer projects. The pattern is by @aegyoknit and I used @junipermoonfarm Patagonia in the colour seaweed. It’s a really cute pattern with some fun details. It was my first time trying 2x2 rib and I love the result! All the details are on my ravelry.
Also if you haven’t listened to @kaya_sews band @the.shorties.music album yet, you should! I’ve had it on repeat lately and it’s the perfect mood for the season.

Feeling ready for fall in my latest #MarzipanMakersCoat 🍂
I made view B in a size 10 and used corduroy for the collar pieces. I also drafted sleeve facings to have a roll-up corduroy cuff. The fabric is a cotton canvas and I love the colour, but it’s a little stiff so I’m hoping it’ll soften with wear.
Full details are over on @threadloop.app !
