Just Trying to Find Myself, 2024
A series of 9 screenshot self-portraits I took intruding the livestreams of various London TikTok users.
since I’m Gen-Z (af), it seems as though 𝓂𝓊𝒸𝒽 𝑜𝒻 𝓁𝒾𝒻𝑒, to be dramatic, feels like a confrontation w the brain-numbing, cringe baggage of that inescapable label. Given the (semi self-inflicted) embarrassment of this, i thought what better way to bring some kind of weird consolation to my psyche than by confronting it head on, like by addressing your problems in the mirror face to face. In this instance, that ‘𝓂𝒾𝓇𝓇𝑜𝓇’ i find myself in is through the screen of a stranger’s TikTok, broadcasted 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝒶𝓁𝓁 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓁𝒹 𝓉𝑜 𝓈𝑒𝑒..

Drew the rinceau + typography on this piece designed w/ @andycarnegiebrown - a 3D version of LeBron’s logo, etched with his family’s birthdates, city outlines on the interior, and finger indents from years of wear. 𝒥𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝒶 𝒦𝒾𝒹 𝒻𝓇𝑜𝓂 𝒜𝓀𝓇𝑜𝓃 visible as he puts it on..
