May block done! Cute and came together fast but discomfort not my most accurate block. Still loving these colors though!

I finally found the perfect frame for my Spanish Moon Moth! It looks great hung but is so hard to take a picture of with all the glares around. This piece was made as part of @denvermetromqg Adventures in Quilting 2025 which was a color challenge. I immediately wanted to make a moth and checked out some library books to find the perfect one. This Spanish Moon Moth had almost the exact colors of the palette I drew.
Pattern: FPP designed by me! I learned a lot and plan to make some more in the future. Not the easiest design to start with but I made it work!
Expertly quilted by @nightingale.longarm.quilting Seriously amazing work.
The backing is a cool moth print but of course you can't see it. I ended up just serging the edges since it was going in a frame.
Also, my second finish of the year for @jandidean
#UFOChallenge2026
This is what happens when you pick up a quilt after nine years! I started this at a foundation paper piecing class at Fancy Tiger Crafts in November of 2016. Only got six blocks done but went a little crazy buying fabrics so I have plenty to finish a quilt top.
Picked it back up now (it's on my #UFOChallenge2026 list) and realized two things:
1) I was cutting those center blocks on point and am supposed to be cutting them square. Not sure if I was told to do it that way or if I did it for one print and then just kept going. Either way works so no big deal.
2) The corners are supposed to be all the same background fabric, or at least the same color, to create this frame effect and pull all the various colored blocks together. Again, not sure if that was the teacher or me. So here's the options...
Do I...
Coming soon, #Doloresquilt by @blacklinequiltstudio !
I was a pattern tester for this pattern, releasing April 29, and she was such a delight! Great for the adventurous beginner and those wanting to step their toe into improv, Dolores will teach you to trust your gut and just make those wonky cuts! I had so much fun making her!
I did my Dolores scrappy, finding chartreuse and black blenders in my stash (with a little help from @quiltwithmisskate and @_by_and_by_ when I didn't have enough black). The light is all mini starry I bought in an end of bolt sale from @happylittlequiltshop

Go read this book if you are a sewist. I read it in two sittings, wishing it was my own copy so I could underline, highlight, and tab all the beautiful insights in it. Exquisite prose. Made me feel all warm inside and a little sad but joyful. Thankful for this practice that teaches us so much and holds so much of our histories in the things we make.
Morning make! Inspired by @cheryl_arkison 's talk at @denvermetromqg last week, I am trying to get up and have 30 minutes of creative time first thing in the morning. Well, second after giving the cats their soft food so they won't bother me.
Today, and until I get tired of it, I'm playing with these fabrics that I knew belonged together: blenders from @tulapink True Colors and worn denim from jeans I picked up on freecycle years ago. I love all the variation in color the denim shows once you open all the seams up. Not sure what/if there is an end goal for this but that's ok!
Started cutting my @blacklinequiltstudio #doloresquilt last night! Since I'm going scrappy, it's taking a bit longer than it would if I was just following the strip and sub-cutting directions. Using sticky notes to keep track of what I've cut and how many I need.
Waking up my brain today with some color theory! My challenge for @denvermetromqg Adventures in Quilting is to feature your least favorite color. I honestly had a hard time thinking of a least favorite color but settled on this tan/khaki color that I have a whole bundle of thanks to a basket I won in a silent auction. Pulled out my @zolliemakes Palette Scout cards to decide on a color palette to go with and my color theory wheel from @kestrelmichaud to figure out just how much of each color to pull for a harmonious quilt. Having fun digging through bins to find fabrics and I think I'll just practice my improv skills from there!
My protest jacket! I bought a denim chore coat from Poshmark to fit this perfect #inprotestquilt block on the back without shrinking. The base sign is Vote and I added clear buttons so I can change out the sign for different protests. Today I wore No Kings but I also have a fuck ice block done and ready to go. And it's a great place for my patches!

Joint Declaration is now complete! I finished the quilt about a month ago but took it to No Kings in Arvada today and had attendees sign it. It got so much love at the protest today! Now to submit it everywhere I can find to show it!
Letters are from the Alphabet pattern by @carolynfriedlander The rest is traditional sawtooth star blocks and improv areas to fill in. All this patriotic fabric (except for the backing) was in my stash for more than ten years!

I'll post about the jacket separately.
@jandidean This is the first of my UFOs finished for the #UFOChallenge2026 One down, 3-5 to go! 😆
