People in handcuffs are escorted by federal agents to white vans parked outside the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program office, ISAP, run by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in the South Loop on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Organizers, aldermen, and protesters all began to gather outside the ISAP facility at 12:30pm after an individual was detained at an immigration check-in. Family members and friends were waiting hours for their loved ones to return from their check-ins. According to family members, their loved ones got text messages on their ISAP app in the last couple days to report to the ISAP office at 2245 S. Michigan Ave. in the South Loop for an unscheduled check-in appointment. More than three hours after people had gathered outside, protesters and aldermen clashed with federal agents as people who had checked in for their immigration appointments were escorted from the ISAP office in handcuffs to white vans on Michigan Avenue. Family members cried as they saw their loved ones being taken away.
