Welcome to all of our new followers! We’re so excited to see more people interested in what we do here at Emerald Hour💚 We launched this organization last January and have grown to more than 50 members based in Washington, Oregon, California, and British Columbia! We hosted 13 events in 2023 throughout western Washington and are already looking forward to another amazing year providing value to our community. We started as four wedding vendors dreaming of a greener industry, and are thrilled to have so many people joining us on our mission to make that dream a reality. Have questions about Emerald Hour? Are you a member that wants to share the love? Are you engaged and looking forward to our upcoming Sustainable Wedding Show? Let us know in the comments below!!

Do you ever struggle with climate anxiety? I sure do. Recently it’s been really bad with news about droughts and data centers topping my list of worries. So I thought I’d share 3 things that help when I’m feeling overwhelmed by climate anxiety —or really any kind of anxiety. 1. I go outside to be among the flowers. For me it’s always flowers. What is it for you? The mountains? The forest? The water? Whatever it is, go there whenever you can. 2. I gather my friends and family at parties designed to bring joy, whimsy, and connection. Gatherings like this help us all feel reenergized for our daily lives as we work to make this world a better place. 3. I lean on my wedding vendor friends in @emeraldhourorg Emerald Hour is a sustainable wedding organization I co-founded a few years ago. It’s a community of wedding vendors who are passionate about the environment and making weddings and events more sustainable. Over the years I’ve learned so much from the friends I’ve made and the workshops we’ve hosted. I’ve gained confidence in how to align my business with my values and express them to my clients. Most of all I’ve felt inspired by being in a community of like minded people who are working together to make our industry better. If this sounds good to you, we’d love to have you join our community! Check out @emeraldhourorg to learn more. 🌲

Simply put, Emerald Hour is a collective dedicated to inspiring and empowering wedding professionals and couples to create more sustainable events. We’re a community of purpose, founded by shared values; especially caring for Mother Earth and the plants, people, and other animals who call this beautiful planet home. While beautiful and meaningful, weddings are notoriously wasteful and often have a real and lasting negative impact on the environment. For our beloved planet it’s never “just one day” but an accumulation of waste and pollution compounded by the millions of weddings hosted every year. (According to The Wedding Report, there were 2,011,044 weddings in 2025, just in the US!) Thankfully we’re not the only ones doing this work, but we are the largest organization for sustainable wedding professionals in the US and the second largest of its kind in the world! Based in Washington State, our vendors from all across the Pacific Northwest are experts at helping couples create weddings that are stunning AND sustainable. It’s what we DO! Getting married? Check out our Member Directory to meet some of them today! Looking for likeminded wedding vendor friends? Check out our Membership page to apply today!

There’s no doubt that AI is everywhere these days. As small business owners who value sustainability, it’s hard to figure out how to balance the benefits of using AI to make our work more efficient with the undeniable environmental impacts of AI. That’s why we’re excited to host a much-needed workshop on this topic featuring two experts on balancing sustainability and digital tools. Meet Hazel Horvath and Jen McFarland! Hazel Horvath is the founder and CEO of Ecolytics, a single platform for corporate sustainability. Ecolytics helps businesses navigate B Corp certification and broader impact goals, streamlining data, setting meaningful targets, and communicating progress with confidence. With AI becoming a growing concern to Ecolytics’ users, the company recently launched Offset AI, a tool that helps companies understand and reduce the footprint of tools like ChatGPT and Gemini by tracking usage and supporting credible offsetting. Jen McFarland is founder of Marit Digital, which partners with organizations as they plan, assess, and improve the digital solutions that help them succeed. Marit Digital is a B Corp, seeking to provide sustainable and ethical digital solutions and education. Jen is also a contributing writer for WRAL TechWire and columnist with Cary Magazine. Join us for this virtual webinar on Tuesday, April 28 from 1-2 PM. Just comment AI below and we’ll send you the link to sign up! It’s free and, in honor of Earth Month and the urgency of the topic, open to all!

Wondering what the Sustainable Wedding Show has to offer? You don’t have to take our word for it. Here’s what a real couple had to say about last year’s show: “We had a great time at the Sustainable Wedding Show. We were able to meet many vendors all in the same day. We walked away with ideas for a sustainable post-elopement party and a planned consult with a photographer. Meeting the photographer in person made all the difference in our decision making and we booked with them shortly after. Highly recommend this event to engaged couples. “ —Brittany We can’t wait to meet YOU at the show this Sunday! Get your tickets in advance and use the discount code EMERALD HOUR. http://bit.ly/sws2026 Tickets at the door will cost more.
