i got to meet @rickytims in Paducah! it was really fun to hear him talk about his winning quilt the visitation. seeing the details of this quilt in person was special. felt lucky my quilt was hung so close by that we could get a photo with our quilts together.
quilt show number two for cabin in the sun! special visit to Paducah. my hometown is just a couple hours away, so my mom could come. && i got to share KY & TN with some MA friends. they surprised me with some cute emerald binding swag.
i really enjoyed making this memory quilt for a close friend in honor of his mom. both the process and end result. he saved some of her clothing, and we chatted about her while trying to create a way to combine his modern minimal aesthetic with a hint of her whimsy. ultimately, a mini wall hanging version of @riane.elise #princequilt from her tunic brought them together. she was an artist who made paintings and drawings, and i think she’d enjoy knowing this piece of her as art is in his home.
i’m also proud of how cleanly i got those right triangles out of the isosceles of the fabric.

final looks at this quilt. embroidered a #quiltlabel since i hope it’s around for a long time. && a little movement in the backing catching the light. #wildphilquilting work on it was lovely.
&& here she is! the finished queen size #checkeredgardenquilt. the family requested warm, colorful, and muted. i used @alderwoodstudio ‘s garden dream fabric bundle as my main color inspiration. i then added in a good amount of low volumes, solids, and stripes in coordinating colors.
the #partyinthequiltback was improv with the extra 2.5” blocks and fabrics from the front.
props to my designated quilt holder because queen size is no joke! hard to get a good photo with it so big.
this quilt should arrive to its home today! here’s a close up featuring the quilting by @wildphilquilting ! i love how the curves of the quilting contrast with all the squares of the #checkeredgardenquilt blocks.
luna and i put this quilt in the mail! so i’ll post more finished pictures soon :) i’ve been using @brittandmars postcards for all my quilty mail! love them, but this was my last one. need to get some more.
