In 2024, I had the incredible honor of meeting @oprah and let me tell you, it was a moment I’ll never forget! Not only did I get to share a conversation with one of my lifelong inspirations, but she also told me she was proud of me. 😊

Last Friday, we attended the grand opening of @stuartcinema 's new location at 37-18 Northern Blvd in LIC (or Astoria, depending on your POV)
We were blown away by @emelynstuart as she shared how she got the new location up and running in **90 DAYS**👀👀 after their original Greenpoint home was suddenly sold.

A little recap from @stuartcinema Opening Party last night from 5PM–8PM 🎬✨
It was for a festive evening featuring tastings from @denofthieves_whiskey and @onandpoppin_popcornbar , with @uptownvinylsupreme spinning records all night. Attendees enjoyed free wine & popcorn while they took in the space, met the community, and celebrated with them. This celebration was POWERED BY RED BULL! Everyone was welcome to stop by for a few minutes or stay for a while.

I’ve lost over $400,000 to unfair commercial rent practices. But instead of giving up, I’m standing up, speaking out, and opening my new theater in two weeks. Building this new theater has stretched me in every direction, but it’s also sharpened my focus in a way I’ve never experienced before. There’s a kind of tunnel vision that comes with chasing something this big—where everything else fades into the background, and all that matters is getting there. It’s exhausting. It’s consuming. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to New York State Assembly Member Emily Gallagher. When she heard that I was having difficulties with my landlord and that I would be leaving Greenpoint, she took the time to come visit me at the theater. She sat with me, encouraged me, and thanked me for the work I’ve done in the community.
Moments like that remind me how fortunate I’ve been to have the support of our local leaders throughout this journey. I’m truly grateful.
As I prepare to leave Greenpoint, I feel confident knowing the community is in good hands. Thank you for showing up and for caring about the people and small businesses that make Greenpoint special. ❤️ @emilyassembly
