My mom once feared she was pregnant, but the doctor said she wasn’t. Still afraid of having another baby girl because of the pressure and pain she faced, she tried everything to avoid it. In my culture, having no son felt like having no child at all. My father’s mother made life hard for her after having 4 daughters already.
