My first time visiting @chaiguysbakehouse and it certainly won't be the last! I was very overwhelmed and had consumed a lot of sweet food so I decided to go for something savoury. The spicy tomatoe aubergine pain sussie which is a rouge choice for me. But this was absolutely delicious. Every event was perfect and the buttery pastry was delicious. I loved the addition of cheese on top as it added a nice tangy to the spice. My first time at @flatironsteak flat Iron has been on my list for a while and I am so glad I finally went. The quality of the steak was amazing for the price. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The mash was not as good as I was expecting. I didn't like the crispy bits on top, they tasted like the crispy batter left overs saturated in oil and the garlic butter on top tasted a big fishy. I should have gone for the chips as they were much better. The service was great and the food came out quickly. I always have to finish with something sweet and this tahini ice cream hit the spot! Breakfast at @felt_cafe_brimscombe Nothing beats trying a new place and actually enjoying it. I absolutely loved being outside by the river and so did Rex 🐶 They have a huge menu and a specials board so I was stuck for choice. I had been eating sweet treats all weekend so I did need something savory... For once 😂 I went with the slow cooked beans with curry spices, topped with cheese, sourdough and a poached egg. I loved the baked beans, I often make these at home and they are so comforting and full of fibre! Date night at @baffipizzeria ❤️ Pizza is always a great idea and Baffi do it right!! I went for the new special pizza - Alla vodka - it was tasty and I liked the flavours combinations but something was missing, maybe some kind of meat?? I also didn't like that the pesto sauce was cold which made the rest of the pizza go cold quickly. Baffi do a great pizza base, the dough is always perfectly soft and airy. I would recommend their pizza to anyone! I am obsessed with the silky smooth texture that goes perfectly with the crunchy base. Lunch at @whitehartlymington I couldn't decide between the French onion soup and the scotch egg, so I got both 😂 The soup was absolutely delicious, full of flavour from the rich stock and flavourful cheese, I honestly couldn't have hoped for more. I had one in Paris a few years ago and this was just as good. The scotch egg was also perfect, cooked well, the meat was still juicy and flavourful and the egg yolk was soft and jammy which is very important when having a scotch egg. You can tell that they use quality ingredients. I have had a few scotch eggs and this is in my top 3. When I see sticky toffee pudding on the menu it is hard to resist. I requested custard instead of ice cream because custard is superior. I was a little disappointed with the pudding. It was nice but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, just a basic stp, I expected a richer flavour. I would have also liked home made custard with vanilla bean flecks, I think this was one from a tin. I also didn't care for the biscuit/crisp on top, it has hard and tasted a bit burnt. Carrot cake or scampi & chips? It's an easy choice for me @auntfannyscafe As we all know, if there is carrot cake then I'll be ordering it 😂 sweet tooth problems! I absolutely loved that the cake is filled with inclusions which is a must for me. I would have preferred a thicker layer of frosting just to make it feel a little more indulgent. Mortadella Pistacchio pesto base with mozzarella, mortadella, stracciata di bufala & basi Partenope Slow cooked pork & beef Neapolitan ragù, meatballs, mozzarella, parmigiano, basil & olive oil Both of the bases were cooked to perfection, perfectly soft with thick fluffy crusts. I absolutely loved the flavours on both pizzas, you can tell that they use good quality ingredients. My favorite was the Partenope as I love ragu and meatballs. If it's a weekend then I am probably somewhere enjoying a cup of green tea and a slice of cake ☕ 🍰 Chocolate Guinness cake is an absolute favourite of mine and @lovecakecafe does an amazing one!!!! Just look at all of that buttercream. The sponge is so soft and moist with a deep rich chocolate flavour but not sickly. The buttercream is light and sweet which compliments the sponge perfectly!
