Blending the raw energy of street art with the emotion of football culture, El Thio’s work captures life through a distinctly Latin American lens. His style balances realism with expressive freedom, shaped by graffiti and hip hop influences, while exploring themes of identity, community, and everyday experience.
El Thio is a 25-year-old artist from La Plata, Argentina, currently studying painting at the National University of La Plata. With a lifelong love for football, he merges the sport with his artistic practice, seeing it as a powerful social and cultural movement that sits at the heart of his work.
Introduced to drawing by his grandfather, his journey developed further in 2020 through graffiti painting across his city and sketching at home, often soundtracked by hip hop.
Football culture remains his biggest inspiration, especially his connection to Estudiantes de La Plata. His work is also shaped by Latin American culture, its music, colour, and energy. Alongside strong ties to hip hop.
While currently rooted in realism, El Thio continues to explore new creative directions, capturing moments from the streets, stadiums, and his own lived experiences.
