Dalel Tangour’s Between Seas and Skies, 1.7 kt is composed of two black-and-white photographs spanning over a decade of vision (2007–2018).
The series unfolds a delicate narrative of mobility between anchoring and drifting. A sea streaked with turbulence, a wind turbine piercing the sky: each image captures the tension of thresholds, departures, and absences.
By orchestrating these elements, Tangour creates a space of perception. The installation choreographs the viewer’s body: one must bend, draw near, feel the narrowness, and look skyward. This journey is not merely geographic, it is deeply interior. At the intersection of chosen exile and imposed displacement, the work explores a shifting memory, both intimate and political.
True to a practice that intertwines photography and poetry, Tangour transforms the image into a threshold a breath suspended between elements. Between sea and sky, between disappearance and resistance, she invites us to see the elsewhere not as a destination, but as a state of awareness.

De la mer au ciel…
Des îles Kerkennah, les bâteaux attendent. Touristes, insulaires, migrants...la terre promise à la recherche d’un ailleurs, d’une autre promesse d’avenir?
Dalel Tangour a débuté cette réflexion sur la mobilité et la migration lors de son exposition A-Zone aux Rencontres de Bamako en 2007. Artiste plongée dans l’altérité sur son territoire et au-delà, elle n’a de cesse que de photographier la mer mousseuse d’écume, bouillante, épuisante, qui engloutit jusqu’à l’horizon.
Cette installation, où deux photographies dialoguent, reflète le travail d’exploration de l’artiste sur la densité des contrastes et la légèreté du grain, pour souligner que rien n’est figé, tout est en mouvement, une navigation entre deux états, un ressac permanent dans la recherche d’un ailleurs.
