As an ambassador I feel that it’s important to pay my respects to those that have not only participated in our scene but have put others on and continue to do so to this very day. DJ Side2 is a prime example. Like I’ve told you before, I could never re pay you for all you’ve done for our community but you know Ima try like hell and for sure always answer the call when you ring my line. We have too much history together for an ig post so Ima keep it brief. I’ve known dude since Douglass Jr High. About 12 years ago we linked musically through Manny C and have kept in contact ever since. About 2 years ago LB was flirting with idea of retirement, as a concerned fan I reached out and asked that he never put those thoughts in the atmosphere. Since then through C12 LB has cranked out 2 solo albums and a joint EP with Cash Dreed. Trust me when I say this, his best work is yet to come. LB says we pulled him out the weeds like a sunflower but it’s the opposite. He brought a spark we’d been missing. The power forward on the squad with mad flash, style and pizazz on the mic. 8/13 at Mongolian Fire come see what I’m saying.
The pipeline from from Sacra to The Woo runs deep. Mentes Differentes are living proof of this, a collective with members from both cities. I’ve been watching these guys make noise for the last 10 years. MD expands beyond the boundaries of hip hop and have placed themselves directly on the front lines fighting for social justice and for the rights of the less fortunate. Fresh off the heels of their latest release “Different State of Mind” and having a billboard on Times Square in NY. MD has something to say.
