Den här processen har varit tung och belönande på samma gång. Jag har fått ta del av absurda och sorgliga och knäppa berättelser. Träsnitt är så jobbigt, timmerflottning verkar så jobbigt, i love it! Idag fick jag ta emot pris från Svenska Litteratursällskapet i Finland Suomi för min homosexuella bok Portal. Jag försökte att inte gråta när de läste motiveringen men jag grät ändå lite för det är så galet att ta emot pris och jag är jättestolt, jag trodde aldrig att mina snuskiga bilder skulle ta mig till såna här rum. Men nu är jag här och nu måste alla tänka på homosex! Tack till alla och alla som läst och vill läsa. Tack💕
@iscp_nyc opened its Spring Open Studios, offering an opportunity to experience contemporary art up close by stepping directly into artists’ working studios.
We welcome Swedish resident fellow @elmhammar to New York City as a new ISCP grant recipient. Edith is currently in residence from April to June, developing an artistic practice on site. Participation in Open Studios offered a glimpse into the studio and process, and an opportunity to encounter the work as it evolves within the studio space.
Hammar often depicts autobiographical and intimate situations in drawings, portraying an everyday life where boundaries, definitions, and norms have become more fluid. Hammar’s visual world is characterized by a queer aesthetic and offers a glimpse into marginalized and often unseen subcultures.
