This Women's Health Week, we’re prioritizing women’s wellness in all its forms. 💙 From knowing your screenings to protecting your peace, prevention starts with information, and information starts with community.
Swipe through for your guide to health screenings, mental wellness, maternal health, and the rest your body is asking for. Then share it with a woman in your life who needs to see it.
National Prevention Week is a reminder that prevention starts with community, education, and compassion. Substance use prevention is not about shame or stigma; it’s about ensuring people have access to the support, resources, and care they need to thrive. We recognize the importance of harm reduction, community engagement, and increasing awareness so that individuals and families feel supported, informed, and connected to services that promote long-term wellness.

Yesterday, our youth traveled to Albany for National Prevention Week hosted by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). @nys_oasas
They had the opportunity to speak with elected officials about the importance of prevention services and share how Elmcor’s prevention programs have positively impacted their lives and communities.
Youth also participated in a Lunch & Listen session hosted by OASAS Commissioner Dr. Chinazo Cunningham to discuss substance use prevention and the challenges young people face in accessing support and resources.
During National Prevention Week, we’re proud to see our youth using their voices to advocate for healthier futures and stronger communities. 💙

Elmcor CEO Saeeda Dunston delivered a powerful keynote at Harm Reduction After the War on Drugs: Reimagining New York’s Treatment System.
At a moment when this conversation is more urgent than ever, it was made clear that harm reduction is essential to saving lives, and that structural racism continues to shape access to care and outcomes, including the impact of overdose in Black communities. Drawing from Elmcor’s model, the keynote underscored how integrating housing, treatment, and community-based support creates real pathways to stability and healing.
Still reflecting on a powerful moment at the 2026 @justeconomy conference hosted by @ncrc_cdf . Our CEO, Saeeda Dunston, took the stage to share how Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities expanded beyond its core services to address one of the most urgent needs facing our communities: housing.
In her session, “How Elmcor Became a Housing Developer and Built a Model Others Can Follow,” Saeeda walked through the organization’s evolution—grounded in over 60 years of service in Queens—and how deep community trust, long-term investment, and a commitment to holistic care made it possible to step into housing development in a meaningful way.
From behavioral health and youth development to workforce programs and now housing, Elmcor continues to meet the moment—building solutions that reflect the real needs of the community.
Grateful to be part of a space pushing forward what a just economy can truly look like.
