Elly: I have been chasing, longing for everything they told me where the golds are. And when I was on the path to reaching the North American dreams that I’d been told, I found myself soulless, lost. I was disconnected to chase over a life that everyone wanted for me. So I stopped. Instead of moving forward like how I was told to do, I walked backward. I closed the doors of what success seems to everyone and opened a new path of my own. I stopped doubting. I stopped comparing. I stopped feeling bitter and instead show up to the world how I am proud to be, myself.
Aamir: In school, I encountered this stigma that pursuing the arts would mean that eventually, down the line, you’ll be a starving artist. Must one choose between prosperous existence and wealth but at the cost of passion and happiness? I think that the dichotomy of this ideology is somewhat of an illusion and a healthy equilibrium can be found between the two worlds. We can weave and grow this balance in our own lives. Why does it have to be one or the other? I believe that both of them can coincide and you can find a healthy balance. Which holds greater weight to you, the pursuit of a passion, or financial stability? The prevalent assumption that artistic pursuits lead to struggles and hardships is relevant in all fields. The world will confront you with the harsh realities of the cost of living. But sustaining oneself as an artist and flourishing in the ever-evolving sphere of creative expression seems more appealing than a cubicle for the rest of my life.

Sometimes I wish we could talk without talking. That somehow you could hear the storm inside my head, the multitudes of confessions I’ve written in my thoughts but never said out loud. Even as you look at me with your sincere eyes and kind smiles I find that I’m not brave enough, a coward hiding in his shell - and all I do is wish.
