🌹VERIDIAN🌹 [Original Design by me] A few weeks ago, when @sleep_token released the first Single "Emergence" from their upcoming new album, the design for this dress started forming in my mind. When @twitch.de sent me an email for their upcoming partner event (a masquerade ball) I decided it was time for a new challenge. For a long time now I shyed away from big projects and challenges, because I was afraid. Afraid to not be able to live up to my standards, afraid of the mental toll a new big project would take on me and afraid of so many other things. What if it fails? What if I'm unhappy with the result? What if no one cares? All these what-ifs paralysed me. I doubted my skills, my passion, my dedication and my ability to actually make art. I played it safe, I didn't start any big projects, I was also extremely miserable. In the now 10 years that I've been making costumes, I have never worked on a project with this much joy and serenity. The design changed a lot from my first draft ro the final result. I found these gorgeous fabrics at @mystoffe24 . Thank you to @black_mantra_cos for coming over and helping me with the work, it was so much fun and helped more than you can know. I want to let go of all the fear that I'm carrying and embrace the idea that maybe everything will turn out okay. Can't wait to wear this dress tomorrow. Last weekend at @caggtusleipzig I took part in my first Cosplay Contest in I dont know how many years. I think the last one I joined was in 2017 or 2018. I generally feel very comfortable on stages. I can host a stage, I can host a workshop or be part of a Q&A, I can be judge to a contest. I love all of those. What I thought I can't do is participate in a Cosplay Contest. To be literally judged and compared for something I put my heart and soul into, I thought it would crush me. So last year I told myself it was time to face that fear. Not gonna lie, it was terrifying and emotional. I cried and my whole body shook when I walked off the stage but I did it. I even took a prize home, something I really didn't expect. This costume was made within 15 days last year and I didn't have the time or energy to alter the things I wanted to alter so I took her with me as she was, flaws and all. And it was enough 💚 I never thought she would bring home my first ever Contest prize but I am so grateful.
