looking through some older work, it’s interesting to see the tensions, the performance. at the same time, how organic it can be to experiment through photography, allowing the self to be located or lost within a frame.

We met at a gig a couple of months back, where Ary was the sound engineer. After the show we got talking. Intrigued, we agreed to meet again where I’d take some portraits.
I visited Ary in their music space; first sitting at the piano, then with their guitar, Ary began forming impromptu dialogues with music.
Ary’s exploration with sound, for me, is somewhat synaesthesic; I listen and experience the violets, the blues - in a spacious kinda way. In a similar way to how I collect pictures -rather than constructing on white backgrounds - Ary seems to collect textures of sounds and bring them all together instinctively, following threads of feeling as opposed to rules and set structures.
You’ll find Ary playing guitar for @dirt__flirt headline show at @colourshoxton on the 13/09 and playing synths/bass with @entropiesproject in October and November for the promotion of the record they produced “The Harvest”.
