Legacy in Motion.
Happy. Women’s. Day.
I had the honor of producing, creative directing, and choreographing a piece for my MOTHER. She loves K-pop… I’ve worked in the Kpop industry… So, of course, I helped her become the Kpop star that she always been ✨
But this wasn’t just about dance. It was about who was in the room. My halmunee—her mom—came to watch. My sister
@estherkim333 the one who first got me into dance, stood beside us. My daughter sat front row, taking it all in. FOUR generations of women, creating, moving, and being present together.
Now, with my halmunee’s passing, I see this moment differently—with awe. The lineage of mothers who passed down their traditions in their own way. We’ve always been creators. Whether through sewing, dancing, singing, praising, worshiping, cooking, nurturing—fearless love has always been at the center of it. And I feel so blessed to pass that down to my daughters, Kaya and Kyrie.
And because life is good and the people around me are even better, my incredible sisters
@sheelaawe and
@blairkimchi jumped in as backup dancers… FOR MY MOM. What kind of beautiful, love-filled, down-for-anything friends do I even have?? The way they showed up for this, with so much love and joy, is exactly why I cherish them.
As I look back at this production, I see why I do this. It’s never just about movement—it’s about who we move with. It’s about creating spaces where people feel seen, where they feel fearless, where they can step into something bigger than themselves. Whether it’s my mom stepping into a dream, my friends showing up without hesitation, or my daughters witnessing what’s possible—this is why.
We all came together to create something that will live beyond just this moment. A joyful memory full of wonder, of conquering fears, of saying yes to something new. A piece of our lineage that will be carried into the next generations—just as it was passed down to us.
