Ten years of LMJ 🖤💫
Some ballets come around and you have no idea how they are going to change the course of your career and life.
When this piece first came to PNB, I was coming back from injury (who would have thunk).
It was the first ballet I returned to because it was in socks. I most certainly came back too soon, but my young body seemingly could handle it.
At the time, I thought I was missing out on so much, but through this singular piece I made some of my best friends, built memorable partnerships (8 to be exact), danced on various stages, and had the opportunity to work with people invested in my growth as an artist.
Not too shabby.
This career has had unforgettable highs, dappled with many an injury. I am always so grateful to @petboal for hanging in there with me.
The injuries can feel so low at times, but are often disguised with lessons.
And sometimes, that perseverance (or some call it stubbornness 😅) can lead to something wonderful on the other side 🌈
A decade of something is an excuse for a long-winded post right?? lol 😘🫶
Firebird portraits 🐦🔥
I have been overthinking this post for weeks
(that nobody asked for lol)
Almost feels like a falsified history to have such beautiful images, without actually performing the ballet
But I guess life happens this way sometimes
When we did the shoot back in November, my optimistic heart thought it might still be possible
A phoenix rising from the ashes, of sorts
But not this time… or rather, not in the way I imagined
Because I will make it back onstage this rep — for the first time in 9 months‼️
And that is huge and I am so grateful 🌹
Long story short, I wanted to share these gorgeous images — and even more so, share my love for the amazing team of women who made me feel gorgeous and supported, in a very vulnerable moment 🫂
Thank you @angelasterlingphoto , @liasnaps and @shelbyadelerogers from the bottom of my heart ❤️❤️❤️ beautiful artists and humans
