My favorite weekend of the year was extra lovely this time around.
Honored to take home 2nd Place prize in the Elev8or Pitch Competition with @bigslatemedia at @filmfestknox and so stoked that @callie_bacon is who topped us in 1st Place. I’m full of pride and admiration and love.

A week out of the grind of the Elev8or Pitch competition this year and feeling incredibly grateful to @filmfestknox for the opportunity for local filmmakers to show off their chops.
Feeling even more grateful to @jonmhalley for pushing the @bigslatemedia team to get involved and not even giving me the option to say no. What a demanding, rewarding ride these last two months have been.
Look out for Big Slate’s film, Pink Sync, and Callie’s film, Sleeping Princess, at the festival this November.

I don’t know anyone else who can capture the hearts and minds of a room-full of people so fast, anyone else who can outwit and out-joke any motherfucker this side of the Mississippi, anyone else who can proudly and confidently run a massive 15-hour/day film set even while popping DayQuil and Sudafed because she’s in the peak of a life-expectancy-reducing cold, anyone else who could so graciously put up with my silly insecurities and my unwavering self-possessions. I don’t know anyone else like her.
She’s a fast learner and a patient teacher, a generous roommate and a humbling debater, a dynamite producer and a burgeoning cinephile, and I get to call her my girlfriend.

This job has provided me so many beautiful, full-circle moments. The KMA was always a special visit for me as a kid and this year I got the chance to direct this lil brand piece for them. Art is everywhere 🤩
