This soft moment between Rula & I won first place in Surf Girl Magazine's 2024 Waves of Vision Photo Comp! I was preparing to hike up the bluff trail with baby and board in tow when Banna snapped this timeless and legendary photo.
Thank you @surfgirlmag@bannarchy@banat.elwaves , judges @letmesea@bryannabradleyphotography and all my sisters who have supported my journey of staying on boards postpartum!
Banna dedicated her win to the mothers of Palestine.
I dedicate my involvement to all mothers who have gone to the ends of the earth to protect and love their children.
Blessings! βπΎβΎοΈ

Last year I embarked on an insane adventure that has led me to many wonderful moments and a community project in Cape Verde π¨π» I'm excited to share it with everyone. More information at link in my bio π
I'm glad I had the audacity to try because I learned more from one failed piece than 3 great ones!
For this piece I was trying a new paper, a new environment, and a new location for gathering kelp.
That's a lot of new things to try all at once!!
In hindsight, I was relying on my knowledge of the process and the vision of my desired result to get me through but that's a lil delulu...
I'm happy to share that continued learning is the true measure of successπββοΈ
Join me for an Intro to Cyanotype workshop exploring the intersection of ocean science and image-making (!! So excited about this one)
Using locally sourced kelp, weβll create photographic prints through a camera-less photo process; learning the chemistry, and techniques behind cyanotype along the way
All materials are provided.
