Stop 7 includes five artists and creatives brought together by @caroline_peacocke . Together, they're the Waipā Collective.
Caroline has been painting for many years and spent nearly 13 years tutoring experimental printmaking classes at Artspost / WSA in Hamilton. Most of her work is two-dimensional, including paintings and prints, though some paintings incorporate raised relief elements.
Joining Caroline at this Trail stop are:
• Lisa Scranney-Palmer @scranneyart (painter)
• Kirsty Horrell @elfinthings (hand embroidery)
• @mary.martin.art (painter)
• @rebecca.dowman.ngapo_art
Step into this welcoming studio environment to meet these creatives and be inspired,
📍The Painting Place, 51 Thornton Road, Cambridge

I’ve been trying to organise myself for the @waipacreativetrail next weekend, deciding what to take and what to leave out. In doing so I’ve found all sorts of works I’ve tucked away in different corners & promptly forgotten about 😂. This one is based in something a friend said at a difficult moment ‘some days I’d like to fly away’ #handembroidery #embroideredart #embroidery

Here’s a wee Blue Tit in conversation with a Pīwakawaka to brighten your feed this Monday morning. I love Blue Tits, when I was a child these fellows would peck open foil milkbottle tops if they were left on the doorstep too long (yes I am old enough to remember both glass milk bottles and doorstep delivery). This unlikely pair will wing it’s way to Wales once I’ve got around to mounting it properly #pīwakawaka #fantail #bluetit #embroidery
First bird of 2026. Getting back to stitching with purpose after a wee seasonal break. It’s a bit warm though, embroidery should not be a sweaty activity. Time to dip my feet in the school pool & eat an ice block #pīwakawaka #fantail
Here’s a pīpīwhararoa / shining cuckoo 💚 These wee green fellas migrate some 3000km to breed here, they depart early autumn avoiding our cooler winters preferring so over winter in warmer places. I rarely see them but do hear them fairly often #embroidery #embroideredart #pīpīwharauroa
I’ve been finishing up works that I had begun, but were not finished in time for my wee ‘Twitching’ show. As you may know, I’m not as great at finishing things as I am at starting them, so getting these finished feels like a small Christmas miracle 😂 This is the first of three 50cm hoops that are currently making their way to The White House, Coroglen, to @paulamcneill2699 ‘s art space. This one is inspired by Victorian wallpaper & the love hate relationship I have with the starlings that nest in my attic and postbox every year 😊(Thanks to @marionmanson for being a superb connector of people & to new art-friend @caroline_peacocke for helping with the transportation!) #ittakesavillagetoraiseanartist
This wee landscape on a loose-leaf tea ball is my entry for Go Small this year. Framing House’s annual group show where all works are smaller than 15cm. It promises to be an absolute feast for the eyes. Opening at 5 on Friday, hope to see you there. #embroideryart #gosmall2025 #tea
I’ve been working on lots of little things recently, but yesterday while looking for something else I found this image of the first big murmuration I stitched. I feel I’d like to do one more, maybe it’s time to get the big frame out again 🤔 #murmuration #starling #embroidery #embroideryart
